Re: Win7 Performance test stops
Thank you for quick reply, yes I've ran SFC and that came up clean, 'No violations found' or something like that. I never ever give the video driver a thought, thanks for that.
I did down-load atiuxp64.dll from a link that was given on Microsoft help site for someone else with a similar problem, suppose no harm in trying that first I hung fire to hear from people with more knowledge than myself first.... maybe video's playing OK kinda 'foxed me'.
I'll get back after some shut-eye, by the way they are SSD drives, I'll do a clone...

Re: Acer Aspire one. D255E-13DQkk
Oooops, sorry moderators, I posted in the wrong section, no wonder I couldn't find mi' post.
Thanks stj, to be honest I'll have to check the CPU type, it only gets used as a scratch pad kinda thing, never for anything serious, from memory I think it may well be a atom cpu.
Just that I thought someone may have dabbled with one of these slow-coaches..... geesh, my very first 'puter' build was XP and that was way, way faster booting and still is.
Again, sorry for posting in wrong section. Dave

Acer Aspire one. D255E-13DQkk
Aspire One says it all...!
Time to fit a new battery so will have to order one, this one is as slow as it can possibly get, I know to speed things up I need to turn things off at 'start up' which I've never done yet... I doubt it'll make as big difference anyway.
Is it worth fitting a SSD drive instead of the 5400 RPM 'spinner', wondering if the change would be any beneficial and worth it?
The o/s is Windows 7 starter, I did thnk of trashing the o/s for Linux, I reckon the drivers will be pretty useless for Win 10 or 11, has anyone got any thoughts...

M&B KB-432706F LED tv
Anyone come across one of these brands that uses a Vestel 17IPS12 power supply?
After main board info or firmware update. 'No stations found' after a tuning search, I suspect the front end is 'kaputt', thanks, Dave.

Sony KDL-40C2010
Sony KDL-40C2010, TV goes off when it wants, no LED error code and no LED light, turn back on and it could last a week or more.
Have the Bravadia Sync settings to off, and power options to off. As anyone come across this?
I can't help thinking it's a micro or power supply fault since there is no LED or error code to be seen.
All the best to you all for the new year.

Re: Diall IP54 AE0295 LED Rechartgeable lamp
Eureka....
The buck regulator chip is a XLSemi 'XL4201' is the type number, here's the data sheet-:
Answered my own question.... might be useful to someone out there.

Diall IP54 AE0295 LED Rechartgeable lamp
I've been given a Diall IP54 AE0295 LED Rechargeable lamp the only thing not working is there is no 'charge voltage' from the buck regulator on the LED control board.
The charger delivers 24VC DC and the LED indicators and LED lamp works. The circuit board is marked AE0195-BAT. The buck regulator uses a 8 pin SMD chip and there's is nothing coming out of it.
The only thing I can make of the marking is either XL40 or X140, by chance does anyone have any clue what chip it is..... must put out around 7.4V or so because this is the Lithium battery voltage.
Thanks,...Last edited by 6BW6; 03-12-2021, 07:25 AM.

Mainboard T.MS3546S.711.... sorry I don't think it's a Vestel as I said, more like a Chinese Shenzhen MTC product a good possibility.

Re: JVC LT-48C570 Suspect firmware
Re-: LED backlights, no not even a flash.
1) They work ok on an external tester
2) They work ok when 'ON bk' pin externally powered.
There is NO evidence of one or more LED/s backlight failure, it is clearly NOT a backlight issue.
Therefore I can only suspect either CPU or Firmware corruption AND to add to the fun the firmware is stored in the CPU since there is no EEPROM chip on board.
Just had word from JVC UK - it ain't one of their telly's....! These are made specially for Curry's...Last edited by 6BW6; 11-09-2020, 08:56 AM.

Re: JVC LT-48C570 Suspect firmware
Yep 130mV ain't going to do much.... funny thing is if you leave it in this ON state I noted the LED flashed once after a minute or so producing a click in the speakers. Whether it's CPU or firmware I'm not to sure.
I can't detect any voltage variations when I first switch it On, it may well be in a self protect mode, I've not studied the CPU yet..... be interested applying 1.5V to see what happens.

Re: JVC LT-48C570 Suspect firmware
Thank you for the reply.
We are looking at CON201 on the power board-:
1) On bk = 0
2) 5V = 5V
3) on/off = 130mV
4) 5V sb = 5.09V
5) 5V = 4.74V
6) 5V = 5.09V
7) Gnd
8) Gnd
9) Gnd
10) 12V = 12.09V
11 12V = 12.09V
Oooops I've missed pin 1 the BL adjustment pin (this is zero)
On the main board The LVDS voltage is being generated this seems to go into the CPU then appears to come out and find it's way to the Tcon board...

JVC LT-48C570 Suspect firmware
JVC LT-48C570
One blink and the led goes out after about three seconds, all power lines up and running otherwise no sound and no screen.
LED backlights OK on external tester. I suspect firmware corruption..... can anyone help? Screen number is LSC480HN08.8
Thanks, Dave

Re: HDD drive greyed out in Disc management (Sorted)
it sorted thanks, right just after I'd posted.
Ah, sorry Win 7 pro. x64 I didn't mention, clicking on the drive it kept telling me to insert a disc.... Oh no crying out loud, the penny just dropped it meant a CD or DVD disk of course it did
I tried always, now I cured the same problem moons ago using Diskpart but can't remember how.
All I did was lob it on a multi socket converter adapter with a USB out onto a Acer note Aspire pad, this runs Win 7 home x32 bit.... and it worked, this...

Re: Dangerous chinese power strip kills motherboard, is it fixable?
I had a computer that kept crashing.... nope, not virus nor malware nor the computer but a BT phone charger - made in China, this did fool me, you go fearing and looking for the obvious.
This only came to light when I noted the racket on a portable FM radio. I sawed the charger open, mains AC in to a fuse into a bridge rectifier, out came 340V DC appx. (ac input voltage x 1.414 = dc out), this went to a 4.7uF 500V capacitor a tiny RF choke, about the size of a 0.125 W resistor.... 2 or 3mm diam. would...
