Asus ROG zephyrus g401 shorted EC ?

Hi guys

Initially the 5 volt rail resistance was 3 ohm, injecting with 5 volt found the short was caused by alc audio codec ic, after removing it the resistance now is around 30ohm. But injecting with 5 volt draws 0.6 amp, so there is some kind of active short somewhere ? ( 5v/0.6A > 8ohm)

Also 3.3v alw is generated by tps51285a ic. On the 3.3 ldo side with DMM, measurement is 21kohm. The ic itself turns on off rapidly when powered indicating over current with audible high pitch whine.
when 3.3v is injected to 3.3v ldo rail, it draws up to 1 amp which caused ite superio ic
(it5125vg) to get hot, luckily 51285a itself is fine.

Is it downright the ite chip being faulty or something connected to ite might be shorted which in turn draw excessive current from EC chip ? New chip is on the way

Here is photo, test pads circled in yellow give reading about 6ohm

Another topic but on the same line what could have caused this multiple short ics ? Is it electric shock static or something like thunder ? Is there any hope to this board ?

Hey! Did you fix your problem?

I haven an asus laptop, plugging the charger in, only high pitched fast on-off switching whine is coming out of it, no reaction.

7ohm on the VCC line of ITE5125VG. Injecting 1V, indeed the ITE is getting hot.
Did you replace yours? Did it fix it?

Remove it and confirm the short on the 3V LDO is gone. If so this should be reason enough to replace the EC.
