2012 macbook pro with an encrypted volume

i have an older client that ended up getting his 2012 non retina macbook pro hacked. the hacker must've taken over and turned on the filevault feature. Can anyone tell me what his options are for recovering the data?

Filevault is linked to the users login password. You can reset the password if the laptop is linked to the users Apple account.

the hacker turned on the filevault. Is this the end of the road for trying to get the data back?

Boot into recovery mode and see if it will allow you to enter a password to unlock the volume. If the password is unknown, then only option is to try and reset via Apple account. I'm not aware of any unlocks for Filevault (doesn't mean there aren't any, just not my line of work).

You can always restore the last Time Machine backup they have if they have one.

Looking for 13" Macbook Pro A1278 mid 2012 820-2565-A Schematics and Board View
          by Rezendes
Hello, I am looking for any and all files related to the mainboard for 820-2565-A (13" Macbook Pro A1278 mid 2012) schematics/board view.

I looked through forum search results and google and was unable to find a board view file, I found a pdf of all the schematics but I don't know where the parts physically are on the board as this is my first macbook board level repair attempt.

The macbook charger has a green light, the battery has been replaced and OS reports Normal status but Not charging. After cleaning a corroded capacitor it crumbled off the board. There...

Will I have a bricked logic board after reflow of the GPU v-core U8900 chip on my Mid-2012 15" Retina Macbook pro?
          by korben_dallas
Hi everyone! I'm trying to fix my black screen / failed U8900 GPU v-core on my Mid-2012 Macbook Pro 15" Retinaby doing a rework/reflow of the chip (once I determine that's the real issue; but it likely is).

I've been disabling the GPU in NVRAM for a few years... but it's just time for a better solution.

I'm new to soldering but the only feasible way to fix this issue is to do something myself.

          MY QUESTION:
I've been seeing some people (on this forum mostly) run into issues with the logic board needing a serial number or it being deactivated (?)...

Apple A1286 Mid 2012 MacBook Pro 820-3330 LCD Backlight issue
          by barry101
          Hi everyone.

I hope someone has some suggestions on how to proceed with this issue.

I have an Apple A1286 2012 MacBook Pro with 820-3330 Logic board. My customer purchased this from me in full working condition. Unfortunately, it overheated on him due to being left running on his bed.

Investigation showed the LCD Backlight was not working (had a latent image and external monitor worked), the battery was no longer functioning (system couldn't read it or charge it) and the Samsung 850 EVO SSD was dead (not seen by finder or disk utility). Quite the trifecta....
