Asus N501JW - EC programming help request

    Good Morning everyone!

I've got this laptop with a shorted EC - IT8585VG. I have the RT809F programmer and i have no idea how to programm the EC.

I've found a video online about this but quality is so bad i cant see anything.
Tried to do with flex cable to the keyboard connector with no luck.
Didnt find any pinout/datasheet for this chip. Checked older posts, nothing
Found some other post on vina, unfortunatly i need to pay to see the pictures.

Anyone could help me in this?
    Thanks

Re: Asus N501JW - EC programming help request

There is a boardview available for this motherboard. Use the pinout from J3101 to map the KSI/KSO lines for the EC to the programmer. Personally I use a SVOD but I found this for the RT809F:

    https://www.yumpu.com/en/document/re...er-instruction

Mapping for the EC is under section 4.6. I don't know if there is a full english version of the manual.

My recommendation is you are going to do EC programming on a regular basis is make the investment in a SVOD programmer. The interface is far more intuitive and far less convoluted than the cheaper chinese programmers.

Re: Asus N501JW - EC programming help request

On asus boards EC is programmed automatically on start but only if EC is empty/new. If you have used EC then you have to delete it first.

          Programming KBC IT8987VG ASUS TUF FX506L RT809F+PEB
          by araxnido
Dear friends, I want to share my experience repairing an ASUS TUF FX506L gaming laptop motherboard: DABKXDMB8E0_F_BKXD. Boardview and schematic are available, as well as the BIOS and ITE ROM.

When the customer brought in this laptop, it was initially dead; it showed no signs of booting for any reason. After hours of measurements, checking each stage, MOSFET, and seeing if there was a short circuit in any capacitor, I discovered a strange 0.7V leakage voltage on the 3V_S5 rail, particularly on the PL9 coil, with the board not powered on. There were 3V_LDO and 5V_LDO voltages, which...

Request: Schematic and Boardview for ASUS Zenbook S16 (UM5606WA) – 60NB13M0-MB5200
          by newmemberguys
          Hi everyone,

I'm looking for the schematic and boardview files for an ASUS Zenbook S16, model UM5606WA (2024).

The reason I’m asking is that I recently caused some physical damage while trying to clip the BIOS chip with a CH341A programmer and SOIC8 clip. Specifically, I knocked off some components (possibly 6, though I’m not 100% certain as I don’t have much experience with this) around the bios chip as you can see in the photos attached. I was able to recover 3 of them which are now taped on the battery.

To help with identification, here is the full...

ASUS TUF GAMING Z790-PLUS WIFI - BIOS Help
          by grimacelord
          Hello,

I have spent the last hour on this and I guess this is just over my head, so here I am.

I have an ASUS TUF GAMING Z790-PLUS WIFI motherboard here that needs to have the BIOS updated in order to accept the latest CPUs.

The BIOS chips seem to come as a set of two: GD25B64ESIG and GD25B128ESIG. My guess is one of them is a fail-safe for the main BIOS? I really don't know. Or one of them is ME and other is BIOS? I don't know.

Anyway, I took dumps of both chips and then downloaded the latest update for this motherboard from ASUS's website...

[TUTORIAL] fix asus bios with bios from asus web support (by razor_amd)
          by razor_amd
With ASUS, not everything is quite so simple. I will show you my way. It may be longer or harder but it is the right way to do it in my humble opinion.

For example, you can have 3 similar ASUS motherboards, all being the same model, all of which will have different BIOS versions.

I will give you an example and my version of preparing BIOS from ASUS website and in the process I am always cleaning Intel ME while doing it so you have fully cleaned BIOS, no DMI data, no password, nothing.

This is the picture of 3 similar ASUS motherboards, all of them being X555LD...
