They said this also works for 2011 as long as you have High Sierra which makes sense since it adds NVMe support.

iBOFF is a good company - we have used their service to upgrade an iMAC with soldered memory to support 16GB. Very professional company to work with. They inspired us to buy our own BGA rework station - just need more caffeine to work on all these logic boards.

Re: Holy crap! MacBook Pro 15” Mid 2012 Unibody NVMe mod!

We purchased the ZM-R720C from Seamark (China). They are a very strong manufacturer of such equipment in Asia and supply clients like Foxconn and others. We are just guilty of not using the equipment as of this writing. Took 4 of us to lift the beast onto the table top. Have some pending purpose to rework a number of BGAs so will use it 'soon'. This is a fully automated tool to remove / apply BGA devices. You will have to manually clean the SMD pads of the solder. The design is supposedly a very close competitor to PACE (from our reviews). Similar PACE unit is about $60K USD.

Inspired by Louis' video from many years ago using their older version of the tools for GPU replacement - we contacted this supplier. The vendor has greatly improved the quality and with our feedback, applied HD cameras which are razor sharp.

We are designing with BGA devices down to 1.4*1.4mm size (16 balls; WLCSP = Lattice ICE40UL1K FPGA) and this tool can work with down to 0.5*0.5mm SMD devices which is the smallest in the BGA rework industry.

Latest catalog from them is attached. If you are interested, PM me and can share the contacts at their factory. I know that someone local here in Ontario, Canada purchased a unit from our feedback to date and they love the equipment. They may have some local reps in the US but try to work with them directly for the best pricing. You will find lower cost models from other competitors but cannot confirm if they will be in business in the future, if you need spare parts for repair, etc.

Looking for 13" Macbook Pro A1278 mid 2012 820-2565-A Schematics and Board View
                by Rezendes
Hello, I am looking for any and all files related to the mainboard for 820-2565-A (13" Macbook Pro A1278 mid 2012) schematics/board view.

I looked through forum search results and google and was unable to find a board view file, I found a pdf of all the schematics but I don't know where the parts physically are on the board as this is my first macbook board level repair attempt.

The macbook charger has a green light, the battery has been replaced and OS reports Normal status but Not charging. After cleaning a corroded capacitor it crumbled off the board. There...

Will I have a bricked logic board after reflow of the GPU v-core U8900 chip on my Mid-2012 15" Retina Macbook pro?
                by korben_dallas
Hi everyone! I'm trying to fix my black screen / failed U8900 GPU v-core on my Mid-2012 Macbook Pro 15" Retinaby doing a rework/reflow of the chip (once I determine that's the real issue; but it likely is).

I've been disabling the GPU in NVRAM for a few years... but it's just time for a better solution.

I'm new to soldering but the only feasible way to fix this issue is to do something myself.

                MY QUESTION:
I've been seeing some people (on this forum mostly) run into issues with the logic board needing a serial number or it being deactivated (?)...

MacBook Pro 2018 with Activation Lock
                by envym
                Hi everyone!

I have a 2018 MacBook Pro (with Sequoia OS) that I've been using for years with no problem. I recently received an M2 MacBook Pro so I'm mostly using it and not the 2018 one, but since a friend of mine needs a computer, I thought I could restore my 2018 and give it brand-new-like to my friend.

I tried using the built-in tool to restore the MacBook (Settings > General > Transfer or restore > Delete) but it got stuck when trying to remove the Find Device configuration (it asked me for the password for my old Apple ID -now I use the same account but...

MSI gaming laptop randomly does not detect nvme (MS-16J51 board)
                by Grouickman
                Hello,

Since 5 or 6 months my old MSI laptop (based on MS-16J51 board, I don't have the machine with me atm, i'll update the exact number when I'll get home) started randomly loosing the nvme drive.

At first I thought it was a bios issue, changed the bios battery that was a bit low, but did not solve the issue.

It used to happen like once every 2 or 3 weeks, but now it became more frequent and can happen several time in the same day if you restart the computer.

It looses the nvme at power-up (will boot to bios and report no nvme drive but still...
