ACER E1-522 MS2372 USB not working

Hi,

the computer work as expected except that all usb ports both on board and daughter board not work (usb3 on board, 2 usb2 on daughter board) all voltages seem ok, I take some measure from U3501 and U6301 and found as per below:

U3501 pin
1 = 0
2/3 = 5,096
4 = 0
5 = 0,720
6/7/8 5.096

U6301 same value excepted for 5 that is 0,450

Also, if i attach an usb device (even a simple keyboard) on USB3 (on board port) the boot process will hang with a blinking cursor on the upper left corner of the screen.


what other tests i can do to identify the problem?

It is odd that all USB ports are appearing to be defective.

Remove power to the logic board.

Meter in resistance mode.

See attached. Check the resistance to ground for the USB D+ / D- ESD diodes.

Red meter probe on the D+ & black meter probe to ground.

Repeat for the D- line.

Post your measurements.

Your load switches appear to be working but can you confirm, the voltage of Vbus after you dock the USB keyboard ? Curious.

Hi,

first of all, thank you for you support, I just measured the two diode and i found that both are around 0.5V (diode mode)

Just to be sure that I checked the right components.. are the two diode in the attached picture? sorry if I ask but I don't have the boardview and with a visual inspection, I can't find any component with D3401 and D3402 i just use some intuition.. These are my first repairs attempts :P

(sorry for the picture quality... I do my best to take the picture :P)

for the Vbus i measured 5V on pin shown on picture... I'm also not sure that is the right one..

I think your issue is software related and not hardware unless there was some confirmed damage to the logic board.

From a recent posting of another thread on this forum - your logic board has an ADVANCED setting. Inside this advanced setting, the USB ports can be disabled.

have some of this laptop with same error. it was damaged usb3.0 controller in cpu.
