Hi! I'm a "self made" hobbyist man with passion for electronics and software development!
This is the best forum for grown my knowledge, sometime I try to fix my friends electronics devices like laptop, desktop and some phones.
My real job is software development but I'm study by myself electronics (mainly from forums and youtube video..) and try to fix things
I'm also really "Retro" enthusiast and I've a pretty collection of old devices, from commodore, Amstrad, Spectrum etc....

Hi,

I've a Dell P75F010, with a FDI40 LA-G716P motherboard that don't power on at all.
I connected the MB to a bench power supply, 19v 1Amp and when I press the power button, nothing happen, no current drawn (some little fluctuation like 0.0005 to totally 0). So seem that I don't have any obvious short..

I just checked the first two mosfet that are immediately after the power connector and the first one was blown (is an AON6994, the first one will have a little hole on surface..) I replace it and now both mosfet has 19v on source.

as first, thank you very much for you support and sorry for the late reply.

I try do my best to solve the problem on my own... following your suggestion, I checked every single pin and after a lot of troubleshooting I discovered that there are some stranges value on pin 10.

As first sight I don't see an oxidation on a trace, so i cleaned up the trace, cleaned the pad (that was almost destroyed!) and soldered a wire to rebuild the track and all start work again!!

Hi,

I've a asus laptop with X751LD rev 2.0 MB.
The laptop screen remain black but if I attach an external monitor on HDMI port I see the bios screen.

I checked power lines on lvds and i found 18.78v also i don't find any obvious problem.. like shorted caps or mosfet on lvds connector area..

there is something that I can check to find the problem?

Hi,

first of all, thank you for you support, I just measured the two diode and i found that both are around 0.5V (diode mode)

Just to be sure that I checked the right components.. are the two diode in the attached picture? sorry if I ask but I don't have the boardview and with a visual inspection, I can't find any component with D3401 and D3402 i just use some intuition.. These are my first repairs attempts :P

Hi,

the computer work as expected except that all usb ports both on board and daughter board not work (usb3 on board, 2 usb2 on daughter board) all voltages seem ok, I take some measure from U3501 and U6301 and found as per below:

U3501 pin
1 = 0
2/3 = 5,096
4 = 0
5 = 0,720
6/7/8 5.096

U6301 same value excepted for 5 that is 0,450

Also, if i attach an usb device (even a simple keyboard) on USB3 (on board port) the boot process will hang with a blinking cursor on the upper left corner of the screen.

Hi,

I've an n15w4 with a very strange problem.
I received the laptop after a failed bios update, so I downloaded the bios from Acer website, then after extracted the bios from installation package (with correct size, I extracted it from bios.bin file)

I reprogrammed the eeprom (after make a backup anyway), now the laptop start (the bios have a fake serial number and fake device name.. something like 123456789012 and acer_xxxx but it's work)

Mac Mini 1347 bios request

Hi, I need the bios for the model in subject but I don't know the exact model.

I'm not sure that the provided model information are enough to find the right bios, if there are more info needed, please tell me where i can find on the motherboard or on the mac body because the mac don't start at all.

Hi,

a friend of mine give me a Mac Mini 1347 that don't work anymore.

I don't know the exact model.. my friend told me that is a 7.1 late 2014 (as far he can remember) but i don't know how can I check if is really this model

The computer start, the fan start and run but connected to HDMI show nothing.. the CPU cooling block became a little bit hot so seem that the computer start..

I see that there is no way to find schematics for this models.. where I can start to analyze the problem?

help for identify an smd diode

I need to identify the diode on attached image. is an SMD diode on damaged board.
As more wide question... there is a way to identify any smd component in a more or less simple way?
Every time that i need to identify some components with no schematics is a nightmare for me!

Following you suggestion I found something... take a look at attached image, the coil numbered 1 don't have any power... everything around seem ok... no shorts and all voltages seem ok.

I suspect that the problem can be the Mosfet that I've marked as 2.
Seem that don't send power to the coil... the id over the component is
Z5049QI (there is a second line below the first one and is TA612D I don't know if this is relevant) can be this the culprit?

I just discovere another...

Hi,
as per title, I've an Acer with no image on screen.

This is my first try to fix a laptop.
[LIST][*] the laptop show red led immediately after attaching power source (bettery charging circuit)[*] Power button seem ok, when pressed a blue light shown on left of the red one after 2 seconds (more or less)[*] Nothing visibly damaged (no evident blown components )[*] I checked some caps and around the power section, everything seem
fine... nothing seem short, power rails seem ok (19V Or 3.3v found on all tested components)[*] Fan start after around 20 seconds...

just to be sure.. as ccfl you mean the entire board with the TM-08190 or only the transformer? because the transformer itself cost only 10 bucks so i can buy one to test it..

unfortunately not i'm not a "real" repairer.. only an hobbyist guy with electronic skill :P this is a friend of mine monitor that yesterday evening suddenly stop working..

There are other measures that i can do to find the problem?

In the mean time i see that on the back of power board there is a SEM-2005 that is an inverter driver IC (check here [URL="http://www.datasheet-pdf.info/entry/SEM2005"]here [/URL] for schematics).

There is something that i can measure here? i don't have...
