Hello all, i have problem with another laptop which is HP pavilion 11-k028TU with mainboard hevin-bsw mb 14269-1. i dont have schematic or boardview. the laptop couldnt turn on. when i check in the W25Q64FV VCC pin which is bios ic, it show 0.xx milivolt. when i trace the rail, that pin go to KB9012 IC pin 125. when i check pin 125 and 124, it appears 3.xx volt with different value. i have check the resistor between that connection but it read slightly bigger than VCC BIOS chip but still in 0.xx milivolt. could it be because dead bios ic? or bios ic not properly soldered?
Laptop HP pavilion 11-k028TU VCC 3volt exist in IC, but disappear in VCC bios chip.

Re: Laptop HP pavilion 11-k028TU VCC 3volt exist in IC, but disappear in VCC bios chi
1) check and post the resistance of the resistor between the bios and the kbc. This resistor may have been damaged by someone trying to reflash the part while on the motherboard.
2) with the meter in resistance mode, check the resistance to ground for the VCC pin of the bios. Then check again the resistance to ground on the other side of the resistor that may be damaged. If the series current limit resistor is damaged, it will not pass through the required voltage and current to power the bios chip. -
Re: Laptop HP pavilion 11-k028TU VCC 3volt exist in IC, but disappear in VCC bios chi
1. the resistor near ic bios is 24.7k and 24.5k or 100k is with color black/brown, i read 2 different value with different ground, other resistor is near kbc read 24,7k and 24.8k. there also resistor read 2.2k but became 23.4k when change the black probe. there also 9.81k became 38.1k ohm.1) check and post the resistance of the resistor between the bios and the kbc. This resistor may have been damaged by someone trying to reflash the part while on the motherboard.

If the series current limit resistor is damaged, it will not pass through the required voltage and current to power the bios chip.
2. resistance from vcc bios to ground is 24.6k ohm, when i check with bleeper mode it not show short to groundLast edited by ndarjo21; 01-11-2022, 03:37 AM.Comment

Re: Laptop HP pavilion 11-k028TU VCC 3volt exist in IC, but disappear in VCC bios chi
actually my phone camera is bad and i dont have any microscop or magnifier. but i have check again. actually, the vcc in bios not connected to vcc kbc. vcc kbc is in pin 125. and vcc bios connected to pin 124 which is V18R. and V18R is 0.6 mvolt. so can it be kbc failure?Comment

the bios ic chip i dont sure it is 3 volt or 1.8 volt. because the V and W look same. but i think its W, which is 1.8 volt, try get water in top of it and flaslightLast edited by ndarjo21; 01-11-2022, 04:23 AM.Comment

by BloodhoundjeHi everyone,
I have been doing hardware repair as a hobby for some years now and recently decided to learn about repairing laptops as a fun challenge.
I managed to get my hands on a "HP Pavilion Gaming 15-ec2523nd" notebook that only shows a white power LED and doesnt respond to anything.
After initial testing I concluded the bios seems to be corrupted since all voltages are normal and there are no shorts. HP has a feature for a bios restore from USB with winkey+B for this model. This did not work.
I have desoldered the bios chip (GigaDevice...-

by macabookHello everyone,
I’m currently working on a dead MSI GP75 Leopard (MS-17E71) motherboard (i7 CPU, NVIDIA GPU) with a no display/no backlight issue initially. After extensive investigation, I’m at a critical stage involving EC firmware, BIOS/ME region interaction, and possible deep corruption. I'm seeking advanced insight from anyone with experience in EC/BIOS sync issues or PCH-level behavior. Here’s a full breakdown:
🧩 Initial Issue- Board powers on (fans spin, keyboard lights up and can be adjusted, caps lock led lights), but no display or backlight
- External display (HDMI) shows

Hello everyone,
I'm dealing with a classic BIOS corruption issue on an HP Pavilion 15-n058sr and hoping someone here might have the original BIOS file or point me in the right direction.
Symptoms:- Laptop powers on but no display at all (completely black screen)
- Caps Lock blinks twice with a pause, then repeats continuously
- F12 LED stays on permanently
- No POST, no boot sequence, nothing on screen
Based on HP diagnostic codes, the 2-blink Caps Lock pattern indicates BIOS corruption/failure.
What I've tried:- Hardware reset (battery removal, power

by piratiHello everyone,
I recently bought a non-working Asus Zenbook Pro Duo OLED UX8402ZA that was listed for parts only. The seller mentioned that it had no display output but that the charging lights worked.
When the laptop arrived (without a charger and SSD), I connected a charger and confirmed with a multimeter that it was charging the battery. However, when I tried to power it on, only the backlight of the secondary display came on. There was no image, and it didn’t boot into the BIOS.
I decided to try flashing a new BIOS, but since I didn’t want to desolder...-
