HP ProBook 450 G1 PN: E9Y39EA not powering on

    I have a problem with notebook HP ProBook 450 G1 PN: E9Y39EA - it doesn't power on.

When I plug in the original adapter the charging LED flashes once white and twice orange (white – orange – orange). I get the same result with different adapter and if I remove processor.

I tried HP recommended routine, removing main battery, CMOS battery, holding power button 12 seconds etc., with no improvement.

Has someone experience with this problem? I checked HP documents and charging LED error codes are not mentioned anywhere.

    Thanks.

Run a battery calibration from the hardware diagnostics menu https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00259897

Check your battery barcode number as well to see if its part of the battery recall, you might get a new battery for free https://h30686.www3.hp.com/?lang=en-US

As I said, the computer does not power on, I cannot run a battery calibration as you suggested.

            HP Spare: 734084-001

I found the schematics on the forum.
            https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showth...t=48.4YW05.011

There is 19V present on the main power rail.

I measured voltages on large grey coils with adapter plugged in, see pictures attached.

Adapter blinking pattern is ok for probook. Nothing wrong there. Check RTC section to begin with.

Could you please help me with what and how should I check in RTC circuit?

When power button is pressed, power LED, charge LED and caps lock LED blink white once.
But only when button is pressed, blinking does not repeat unless button is pressed again.

Could this based on HP LED error codes indicate a faulty processor?

Check RTCRST# & SRTCRST# first. No power should be connected(adapter as well as battery) while measuring these voltages. Only CMOS Cell with 3V should be attached.

Btw, Do you have a dc supply?? If yes, report the consumption offline mode and again when you try to turn it on. Is there any difference in consumption??

Re: HP ProBook 450 G1 PN: E9Y39EA not powering on

I tried to check RTCRST# & SRTCRST# on PCH (chipset) testpoints, but all were 0V (I attached picture where I measured). Should I check other testpoints?

I do have dc supply, I cut old connector from non-working adapter and tried to apply voltage through it to the board. Since no lights turned on, I tried again with working adapter and figured out that original adapter has three lines = 19V, 5V and ground. Because I only have one dc supply I am not able to supply two different voltages into the board.

The RTCRST# & SRTCRST# measurement is not done on top of PCH. There is likely to be trangle shaped jumper near pch and maybe labelled as CMOS OR JCMOS etc. If you have difficulty finding the test point, post clear picture of pch area-top+bottom side.

I found the triangle you mentioned and measured the voltages, see attached picture.

                              What is the next step?

I'm afraid, thats not the triangle i was talking about. Better you post clear pic -top+bottom side of PCH.

I tried to make as clear photo as possible, but PCB coating is very reflective.

G1901-That's the point where i asked you to measure. One side will be GND, The other should show close to 3V. The measurement must be taken without any power(adapter+battery), only cmos cell connected.

Re: HP ProBook 450 G1 PN: E9Y39EA not powering on

I measured voltage over G1901 as per your instructions – it is in fact 3V.

I gathered additional info about events before failure. Laptop was on battery charging a phone over USB port and the laptop battery run off. After this the laptop could not be turned back on.

Can some PMIC in USB port area be the culprit for laptop not turning on?
