    Lenovo Thinkpad T560

Hi, Lenovo Thinkpad T560, LSZ-2 MB 15202-3 448.06D04.0031, no backlight.
Power for led backlight ok = 19V (with charger), two additional control pins: enable and pwm = 3.3V and a constant square wave that does not respond to lighting power control.
The pwm value is too small to light up the screen?

I wonder about the glowing FN key, pressed and does not turn off the LEDs under it, active all the time? Maybe it's a bios failure? I cleaned my region but without success. The eset program is installed on the disk.

    hi.

does your logic board look like the attached ?

found on the internet that T560 = 15202-2 but can you confirm this ?

PS: Just saw your post in the schematics forum. If this board matches, can post the boardview file. The schematic is encrypted so unable to post it.

      Posting the relevant details.

      1) Check the 2 key fuses linked to the display.

      2) Check and post the voltages after these fuses.

      3) Need to do some house plumbing (argh!!) - will check back later if you need any other portions of this schematic.

Appears that the EC controls the backlight for the display panel but start with confirming if the voltage rails are present for the LCD.

The very last post offers the fuses in the schematic.

        Re: Lenovo Thinkpad T560

        Fuses ok
the picture is on screen, only the backlight is missing
SMD Flea gave me a boardview and now I know I misinterpreted the pins using the pdf data of the LCD display and taking measurements on the LCD cable.

        LCD1 jack
        PIN 34 -IN_CELL_DTCT_C = 3,3V
PIN 33 PANEL_BLK_CTRL = pwm as in the picture in the first post

I missed PIN 32, my mistake

        Now I have taken a measurement, PIN 32 = 3V,

And a surprise because the panel is now lit, it is possible that something is wrongly connected and the fault will return. I am wondering about the LCD cable which does not respond to tilting the screen. if the image disappeared when tilting the screen, I would have evidence

The pwm signal is the same, i can't change the brightness of the screen in bios.
Under linux (manjaro kde) I can change the screen brightness to 100%, very bright.
if now the backlight goes out I have to check pin 32,

        thanks all,

The situation returned, no backlighting, voltage on pin 32 = 3V ok, the same with other signals, you can see the image on the screen illuminated by the flashlight. I will look for a new lcd cable, but first tomorrow I will check the cable transitions but plugged into the connectors.

thank you colleagues SMDFlea and pn2, the topic will describe when I detect something

            Re: Lenovo Thinkpad T560

If you can control the brightness under Linux than the hardware (logic board) is working fine.

Most likely a missing device driver on Windows for this laptop. Check the Lenovo website for the full Windows driver package.

Pin 24 & 25 on the LCD connector = USB. Perhaps some USB driver is required to support the brightness control of the display ?

              Re: Lenovo Thinkpad T560

lcd panel = NV156FHM-N42 V8.1 if I'm right, light control = signal pwm, LED power in the panel is all the time (19V or battery), enable panel and PWM signal (lighting power) they are also always there, so I'm looking for an error connecting the panel to the board, a colleague who gave me the laptop for repair, he said that the panel was replaced with a new one but it did not help, no one checked the cable, I measured the cable but it was removed and bent differently
the panel is also not lit in bios, without any additional drivers

Is the pcb repairable,is it just bad solder on a coil or something

This is a new matrix purchased. a new one with a defect will be the complaint procedure, when the matrix was lying flat on the desk it worked properly, only mounting it in the screen wing revealed the defect, I had a problem finding the defect.
I was misled into thinking that other lcd panels had been tested and that was definitely a motherboard bug.
This is an error of the LCD panel. proper interview, knowledge of the history of the device and I would not waste any time
I hope I wrote correctly and understandably
                    regards

"mon2" kindly post the schematics for this Model Lenovo Thinkpad T560 (Board # LSZ-2 MB 15202-2 448.06D10.0021).. One of the Components U8501 near the CPU had corrosion under the 6 balls of this IC & I do not know the part # of this chip. Kindly if you can inform me this number. Thanks

Do you know where will I find this IC regulator BU90004GWZ-E2??? or do you have any idea in which donor board will this regulator be soldered, I have a lot of donor board, ACER, Lenovo, Dell, HP, Apple, MIS etc. Have any clue???

Both Digikey and Mouser are showing stock of this component. That is very rare, given the current shortage in the semiconductor industry. I would grab a few spares from either supplier. I think that DK will be cheaper at $8 shipping fee vs. $20 with Mouser.
