HP Folio 1020 G1 - Shared SPI Flash was Recovered from the Embedded Controller Flash

I booted my Windows 10 laptop with a Ubuntu USB Key drive and it's done something awful to the BIOS / UEFI.

Entering sleep or shutting it down causes it to enter an unresponsive state.

Sometimes the power LED by the charger port will flash orange / white.

Sometimes the Caps Lock and Num Lock LEDs will flash.

After some time it will boot with the following message

"Shared SPI Flash was Recovered from the Embedded Controller Flash"

    and will then boot normally.

I have also recieved the following other error recovery screens

    "Network Controller Configuration Restore"

    and

"EC MPM and System MPM Mismatch"

    and

    "BIOS Recovery via Local Media"

    and

    "Product Information Not Valid"

    and

"Warning : This machine is not in a commited state".

If I run the HP System Info tool in Windows, the "Software Build Number" and "Feature Byte" are both missing.

The SKU, Serial Number and UUID are present.

The battery and the LCD have been replaced with eBay sourced OEM models which worked fine up until the Ubuntu Disaster.

My question is how should I proceed?

    What I've Done :

I have aquired a number of BIOS images and tools from this forum.

I have made a USB key with HP PC Hardware Diagnostics tool and tested the hardware, which is all fine.

Should I try flashing the BIOS with one of these images?

Does a Feature Byte exist for this machine or is that a red herring?

Similarly is the lack of Build ID

I have the PCID if that's helpful.

I hope this makes sense...it's all very confusing.

DId you find the solution? I am facing the exact same problem, but i am on windows. cant shut down my laptop or put it to sleep, bcoz then it takes ages to get back to normal state. Should I update BIOS? I am on version 01.25 Rev.A, and there is an update available 01.26 Rev.A.

HP EliteBook 865 G9 - Shared SPI Flash was Recovered from the Embe
        by haopcxg
Some time ago, I forgot my 865 G9 BIOS password. I found a warm-hearted person in the forum and cleared the password; It's all a problem. DMI is wrong. I rewrite the new DMI in the BIOS. However, the message "Shared SPI Flash was Recovered from the Adobe" automatically recovers the wrong DMI information when I boot up. What should I do? Is there any other chip that stores DMI information? How can I clear it. Attach the motherboard diagram and BIOS backup....
