    Assumed BIOS corruption occured on EliteBook 1020 Folio G1.

  • HP Folio 1020 G1 - Shared SPI Flash was Recovered from the Embedded Controller Flash

    I booted my Windows 10 laptop with a Ubuntu USB Key drive and it's done something awful to the BIOS / UEFI.

    Entering sleep or shutting it down causes it to enter an unresponsive state.

    Sometimes the power LED by the charger port will flash orange / white.

    Sometimes the Caps Lock and Num Lock LEDs will flash.

    After some time it will boot with the following message

    "Shared SPI Flash was Recovered from the Embedded Controller Flash"

    and will then boot normally.

    Hello, I am in the UK and I don't do anything any more due to covid

    I made a Ubuntu USB key to check out Ubuntu and it wrecked my laptop UEFI so here I am trying to fix it before I end up flogging it and buying a new one.

    I used to know what I was doing back in the 90s but now I have no idea.

    Hopefully you can help me fix it and save some money.
