    Sound problem on HP Mini

I have an HP Mini 210-1014sa which I bought cheap “for spares”. When I got it I thought I'd give it a go just to see what problems it had, so I connected my power supply to it and turned it on; it booted to BIOS fine. So I added a hard drive with Windows 10 (32 bit) and it booted right into Windows and ran fine with one exception; no sound. I tried installing the IDT drivers (It was detecting the IDT device but wouldn't install the drivers for it) , but that didn't help. Still it was saying no audio device was available. So long story short, I ended up with Windows 7, Starter edition installed, which it would originally have come with, thinking “now it should work fine”; was I mistaken?! Still no sound, now the IDT wasn't even detected! Couldn't install drivers of any sort. Came to the conclusion the IDT Chip had failed. So changed that; still the same! Thought maybe I had damaged the chip installing it, so changed it again (VERY carefully!). Still no different; well there is ONE difference, before the “mute” light was always showing, now that doesn't show, but sound still is not working: I'm at my wits end! Any suggestions? Thanks.
