Hi all, I am working on this Laptop HP Spectre x360 Quanta (Motherboard DAY0DDMBAE0). The problem before was the DC-in jack WHITE LED was blinking. Some web sites adviced to replace the battery. When replaced with original battery, it work for a few days & then the problem started again with a different symptoms. The LED light was blinking looong-short (via-versa) & the laptop does not turn on any more. Upon diagnostic I found that there is no 3.3v but 5v is 100% present. When the battery is plugged in, the LED turns WHITE to ORANGE.... I checked PU11 (Page 33) from where 3.3V is generated & all seem to be fine on the pins except no output voltage. I removed the coil PL17 & checked without the coil on the motherboard the voltage on pin 10 of PU11 is around 16v & then no 5 volts when PL17 is out. AD_ID show only 1.12v where as this voltage should be 3.3., is this normal?? . Your help will be much appreciated. Thanks is advance

AD_ID will not be 3.3V and at 1.2V its most probably correct. The value depends on the adapter wattage. Check the wattage requirement of this laptop first. On certain mb's , it needs 90W adapter and you get dc jack light blinking on turn on when 65W adapter is connected.

Re: HP Spectre x360 Quanta DAY0DDMBAE0
Thank you so much "mcplslg123".. must say you are a great help. I just checked all the voltages according to the schematics & notice that PU11 that outputs 3.3 volts, there is no enable voltage on pin 1 where as there should be 3volts & this pin 1 has only .16 volts. The similar chip by the side of it which generates 5v have the enable signal on pin 1 & I am assuming that this is why I have a clear 5v & because of the enable volt not present on pin 1 of PU11, 3.3v no output. On this same chip I am getting all the required voltage., pin 5 = 3.3volt., Input = 19 volt. The enable signal is coming from the ITE I/O chip. Can you pls. verify this for me. Thanks for the help.Last edited by mferna14; 04-22-2021, 09:46 PM.

Re: HP Spectre x360 Quanta DAY0DDMBAE0
can you please attach the schematic?? This mb is likely to have DSW(Deep Sleep Well)-so mb will be in DSW stage offline and you are not expected to have +3/5VALW rails. Those will come up only after power on. Can confirm that only after seeing the diagram.
PS: I still suspect it's a adapter issue-may be under rated or defective. Dc jack led is glowing white to red with battery does indicates battery is communicating with sio chip. May be the new battery is totally discharged and thats why its not turning on anymore from battery. Since it was working fine with new battery i dont think 3v regulator PWM is defective. If you have any option get the battery charged on another laptop and check again.Last edited by mcplslg123; 04-22-2021, 11:02 PM.

I think "mcplslg123" you mis-read something. Actually this motherboard never turned on, with or without battery. I informed you that when I insert the battery only the DC-in jack LED turns white to red. It has not turned on & I am not getting 3.3Volts at all but I am getting 5v. I have attached the schematics & boardview for this motherboard to review., pls. help, thanks for all the cooperation.Attached Files

Re: HP Spectre x360 Quanta DAY0DDMBAE0
@mferna, Sorry for the misunderstanding. So S5_ON is not coming up and without this there will be no +3VALW. This signal comes from KBC. Do you have a kbc programmer as this kbc needs programming?? Have you flashed main bios yet?? Resistance on S5_ON is not low??
