    Macbook Air 2017 / Screen unresponsive - J8304 BLOWN. Board 820-000165

Hey all! I'm a total noob at board-level repairs, just now learning to solder and remove components. I made a dumb mistake recently, looking back I *believe* that I may have accidentally plugged the LVDS in backwards and blown this L8304 (NOT J8304 - typo in title) component. Screen was working but bad before install. Now no response. Interestingly, I acquired another board that has the SAME component blown, no screen response at ALL. BOTH MACHINES fully function otherwise.

How would I go about troubleshooting this? Would replacing that part fix this? LVDS need replacement too? I believe according to the boardview that the blown piece is connected to pin 18 or 19 or the LVDS which does appear slightly darker here on the board side. Any recommendations for an affordable multimeter to check things?

I'd love some sage advice from some of you guys -- what would be your troubleshoot process? Is it likely that replacing that component *could* fix the issue?

    Hello,

L8304 is just simple Coil, you should change it ant check if there is no short to ground on L8304 with LCD connected, if there is no short, you can try to turn on macbook.
