I have a Sony Vaio VPCEB1M1E - PCG 71212M board 1P-009CJ01-8011 rev 1.1 powering off during boot. Laptop is 1st gen. i3 with radeon dedicated graphics. Always it turns off at about the windows login screen about 30 seconds + after turning on. I cleaned the board and applied thermal paste but no effect. After it shuts down it won't turn on right away, I have to wait a couple of minutes and then it'll turn on again.

Ati radeon seems to have died. Reflow it at 220c for about 30-40 secs and recheck. -

Not all the time it is a hardware failure and if you Reflow the GPU, you will get this problem again in another 4 to 6 months .
Before Opening laptop cover
Try following
Go in BIOS setup and Load Default Bios settings,
have you downloaded new graphic card driver lately and do you get any BSOD. Graphic driver corruption also effect the system in the manner you have described. In safe mode remove any corrupted driver and reinstall with basic not new.Comment

I will try BIOS reset but it is doing this even without Hard disk. Also I am afraid if I reflow the GPU, I may worsen the problem. I have reflowed other gpu with minimal success. Sometimes condition stays the same, other times it might get fixed and other times I've had laptops refuse to power on at all after reflow.Comment

If you reflow at 220c for 20-30 secs, it will never damage the bga. You need to do this with good quality bga flux and need to heat the chip diagonally and not in a haphazard way. If you follow these safeguards, it wont get damaged. this is not a solution at all rather this is just to confirm whether the graphics chip is faulty or not. The chip has to be ultimately replaced or atleast reballed.Comment

Buenas mi nombre es carlos me uni al foro porque estoy buscando el schematic de una sony vaio pcg-41217u otras formas de escribirlo son 1p-0117j01-a012 mbx-237 numero de placa revision 1.2 o Sony VPCSB (MBX-237), en fin me gustaria y ayudaria un monton si alguien me puede dar dichi svhematic para hacer las mediciones de una laptop de la mencionada anteriormente(Sony VAIO PCG-41217U) con el fin de repararla dejo de funcionar solo prende el led de la bateria al pulsar el boton de power el disco empiesa a hacer ruido de actividad pero los leds del frontas no reflejan acividad y no enciende la pantalla....
