Compaq Presario CQ57 Run for About 2 minutes Then Shut Down

This computer has been sitting for about 3 years not being used and now when I try to turn it ON and goes through the bios boot then starts OS but does NOT stay power ON long enough to load it
and shuts down

If you wait a few minutes and try restart it again it will do same-thing again

I took out the hard drive and the memory chip board modules and put one memory chip board module back in it does same thing again

It does the same thing on battery power


Can someone please point me in the right direction to where I need start to troubleshooting this problem

First of all did you try cleaning heatsink and putting fresh thermal paste on CPU and thermal pad on northbridge? And checked that fan spins properly?

No I have not tried that but I can hear the fan sometimes speed up but not always
Also the Ethernet card light lights up white and there is nothing connected it never use to do this

check the CMOS battery voltage,replace if its low.Check bios boot settings

Change the electrolytic capacitor for CPU voltage.

i mean capacitor in Vcore section , the electrolytic capacitor for +vbat (19v),CE1310,CE1306,CE1311,CE1302,CE1307

i have similar problem before and changing those capacitor solve my problem, hope that help you
