Macbook a1502 early 2015 820-4924 - liquid damage strange behavior

    Macbook a1502 820-4924 liquid damage
There was a problem with sensing resistors tracks
Missing tracks from r7120 to r7121 r7122 and also from 7121&7122 to isl chip.
    I ran a wire from r7120 to both r7121 and r7122.
Restored tracks to isl chip also
The board works now, the only problem is when i power on the laptop from battery, if i plug magsafe it shows 100% on battery percentage, and when i disconnect magsafe laptop restarts itself...

    Any idea?

Ok, i replaced isl chip, some capacitors that i suspect were bad, but no luck!
Restored 2 individual tracks from r7120 to r7121 and r7122.
Now when i conect magsafe battery is showing the right percentage, but when i disconnect magsafe, board restarts itself.
Without battery connected i have 12.51v steady ppbus_g3h
With battery connected my ppbus is 11.4 to 12.4v fluctuating. The battery was 22% and charging...
    Could this be the battery?

Yes, try another battery if possible. Or let this one charge overnight and try again.

Re: Macbook a1502 early 2015 820-4924 - liquid damage strange behavior

I found another chassis with battery inside.
        Battery was drained out 0%
I mounted the board inside and started to charge the battery, now is at 12%
If i remove magsafe, board restarts itself.
        So it's not the battery...

          I changed again ISL6259 - no luck
I saw some capacitors around smc which i didn't like and replaced them too -no luck
I replaced d7010 since it was missing in the first place(and i wasn't sure if the one used is good), and without it board is "dead". Also dcin_isol_gate was 0.7v with before i replaced d7010, now is around 6,7-6,8v
I measured jumping voltage on d7050 pin 1&2 - smbus_smc_5_g3_sda & smbus_smc_5_g3_scl, and they are fluctuating ... lowest i got is 2,75v when the board starts, and 3,22v to 3,42v constantly up and down (with battery plugged)
          Without battery a i get a steady 3,42v
with battery connected my ppbus_g3h is 12.31v(steady) and without battery is 12.58v (steady)
I did reflow the smc at this point - no luck....

i don't know what else to do....

Today I tried a known good battery, and the problem is still there.
When i disconnect magsafe laptop restarts, as the battery power is not enough to sustain the laptop on.
After disconnecting and restartin the latop works perfectly on battery...
Is there any asd for this board?

Apple A1502 very slow after liquid damage
              by Jacksoft
              Hi all,
I have a trouble with a MacBook A1502 with 820-4924-A motherboard after it became in contact with some liquid (Picture attached, that's the only point where oxyde were).
I know that is a very critical point because that traces goes to the SMC and to the CPU.
The most oxyde is on XDP_CPU_PWRBTN_L and XDP_CPU_VCCST_PWRGD trace.
The PC is REALLY slow in any operation, but the fan works normally (it turns on only when the CPU is really stressed) and the CPU does not get warm, like it's running in "low power mode".
We made a check with AST in EFI...

Macbook Pro 2015 A1502 SSD apparently died
              by backes
              Hello,

My macbook pro froze, and now I get the folder with question mark symbol. In the recovery mode the SSD can't be found in the disk utils. I then used a Linux USB stick to try to mount the SSD and it wasn't present in `lsblk` . Which led me to the conclusion that the SSD itself is broken. I then gave it to apple support and they say that the SSD is dead and wanted to replace it for around 400€. I declined this "repair".

Then I bought a new SSD from amazon for 70€, however also this one doesn't work and can't be found in disk utils in the recovery...

How to clean Liquid Metal from under CPU?
              by silver60618
Hi all, Im working on a board, that my customer brought to another shop, and smeared liquid metal all over the board.
The laptop powers on, then shuts off. I noticed traces of Liquid Metal near the edge of the CPU, but I fear some maybe underneath.

Has anyone ever tried Ultrasonic cleaning, or compressed air to remove or agitate the liquid metal?

Strange liquid on damaged GTX1080 card
              by kurland
              Hi,

I'm fixing a GPU card for a streamer, was sent to me by mail. A shorted cap on a power rail has severely burned the PCB.

As you can see from the darkened PCB around the mosfets there are signs of liquid damage. But it's odd because the person says no water has entered the PC cabinet. If you spill something on a desktop you would know I guess...

Funny thing is that the liquid is not only on the PCB but on top of many chips which are tightly covered by thermal padding under the heatsink, even on top of some of the RAM chips
