Hi, Working on a Apple MacBook Pro Logic Board 820-2936-B. Symptoms was it turns on, fan spins & then shuts off ater a minute, after a second it turns on again & then off again after 1 min & this happens till the Magsafe power is attached. After a microscopic inspection, I saw liquid spill & Corrosion on Q3210. I replaced with another one & checked the circuits were all intact & did a cleaning on the nearby components. But the problem presists. Now I noticed when I remove both the memory chips all voltages are back & the fan spin is good & does not shut on & off. As soon as the memory is installed in either slot, logic board goes on & off status same as before. Can anyone help me from where to start troubleshooting. Thanks

Tried PRAM reset? Done... Does not turn on for long, but still I held on the 4 keys, nothing happens
Does it chime? No Chime at all... fan moves for a while & then shuts down. I measured that 5V rail just disappears but 3.3v railis always present, automatically the 5v rail turns on again & then shuts down again
Does it have image? No image at all
If you plug in a USB drive does its activity LED blink? USB plugged in but nothing happens
I do not see any shorts to ground. But all the BGA chip are getting hot. Where can the problem be... Just wondering...Comment

Hi everyone! I'm trying to fix my black screen / failed U8900 GPU v-core on my Mid-2012 Macbook Pro 15" Retinaby doing a rework/reflow of the chip (once I determine that's the real issue; but it likely is).
I've been disabling the GPU in NVRAM for a few years... but it's just time for a better solution.
I'm new to soldering but the only feasible way to fix this issue is to do something myself.
MY QUESTION:
I've been seeing some people (on this forum mostly) run into issues with the logic board needing a serial number or it being deactivated (?)... -
by GuestHello all!
Recently I've got a broken Macbook Air M1 2020 A2337 of eBay with a broken screen and not turning on issue.
After some tinkering I've found C5201 capacitor to be blown. This is where I hit a wall since I am a total noob in this area and have no idea what else to look for. C5201 is on one line with 3 more capacitors which visually seem ok, but beep on continuity mode and also both sides of all capacitors beep when tested with ground from the board. This to me sounds like a short, but I am not able to find what component is before the capacitors to test it.... -
Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by ledbylightHi all!
This is my first post and also one of my first "deep dives" into electronic repair. I'm used to doing basic tasks with computers, like SSD/CPU replacement, thermal past re-application, etc. So here's the story...
I have a MacBook Air M1 that I bought to repair (I know, I'm weird; though I'm a CompSci major and want to learn more, and it will not display anything on the internal display. I have verified that there's no backlight, as I booted the laptop and shined a flashlight on it and there's no display; it does completely boot up, and shows fine on an external...
