HP Spectre x360 Quanta Y0DD DAY0DDMBAE0 power issue

This machine was severely water damaged, dead on arrival. I've cleaned it up and found a short on 19v line and other power issues, these are sorted. The machine now has a stable light when jack is connected and when you press the power button, the light next to the button shows a long blink (jack white light stable).

    vin is ok
    +5VS5_S ok 5v
    +5VS5 ok 5v
    +3VPCU ok 3v
    RTC_RST# ok 3v

    +3.3VS5_S 0v

When I press the power button 3.3Vs5_s all the SUS, +3v on bios-all voltages pulse. I think there is a partial short is pulling the board down. I've checked a lot of the rails in resistance mode and can't find anything low. Any ideas what to look at next?

    thanks

is you DC to DC +3VS5 is ok ? Remove the jump PJP2 if the 3VS5 ok , If not check EN 1/2 & VIN on PU11

Not sure what the dc to dc +3vs5 is but I'll remove the jumper and check tomorrow.

PU11 - +vin ok, the S5_ON pulses when you press the power putton. Something I don't understand, isn't this the same signal that is on pin1 PU10? I've changed PU11 but still the same problem.

S5 on is the Enable Signel come’s for SIO to pin1 of PU10 & pin1 of PU11 most probably around +3V, pin 7 EN2 comes through +19V with the help of the Voltage Divider it became’s +4.39V to pin7 make sure you have this supply’s, you have 5 capacitor under the Jumper PJP2 you have to test them for any leak or short to GND

          Thank you for your help!

          A few measurements on PU11:

          Pin
          1 0v
          2 0v
          3 0v
          4 0v
          5 3.3v
          6 3.1v
          7 4.2v
          8 19.6v
          10 0v

All the 0v rails pulse when power button is pressed - so its trying to come on.

There is no jumper PJP2 on the board its just a track.

Is it worth trying to remove PL17 and PU11 (as there is no PR46 just track) and trying to isolate +3VS5 to look for a short?

Just checked PR98, there is no resistor on the baord (no stuff?). It has the same missing signal and pulses when power button is pressed. The enable signal is constant from 5VS5_ON so we have +5VS5.Does this mean the SIO is the problem?

If you have a DC power lab you can inject 1V high in AMP PL17 out put Side Touch the board to find out what components getting hot , what was the reading resistance to ground PL17? Or you can replace PU11

SIO IC is ok leave it for the moment

I already replaced PU11 same issue. I injected the enable signal on PU11 and now there is constant +3VS5. But when you press the button the symptoms are the same, power light comes on for a few seconds. There is no pulse on +3VS5 but I noticed a slight pull down on +5VS5 (from 5v drop to 3v when button is pressed).

when you injecte voltage EN1 check the PGOOD voltage +3V , make sure ACIN reach to SIO, PU15 check the pin 3 for MAINON signel pin 2 for SUSON & the voltage of pin 8 13 ? for the drop down of voltage +5V to +3V i am not quite sure why!

Yes all present, still the pulse. Like I said this had a lot of corrosion so didn't expect a good result. I'm going to put it down to experience. Many thanks techtiger for your useful insights, I've learnt a lot!
