    Re: Ene 9010 c4 replacement

kb9010 and kb9012 are pin compatible. but kb9012's datasheet says:

"ENE KB9012 is a customized IC based on KB9010 for specific application of minimizing
power consumption. Several pins are provided for external power-latch to save power consumption. IO characteristic and cells are also improved."

Therefore, kb9010 and kb9012 have at least some minor differences in power consumption, IO characteristics and internal cells. therefore, the external capacitors required to connect to them may be different.
However, I have no experience in replacing kb9010 by kb9012. So they may work in behalf of each other. I am not sure.

Thanks caspian for the feedback. I have gone through the datasheet of KB9012 but couldnt find it for KB9010. I too never did it and am not confident to replace it without being sure. Thats why i seek others opinion if anyone had experience with it. Else, i"ll prefer to wait for the new chip to arrive as i"ve already placed order for new one. I checked for pin compatibility by using schematic for HP LA-A994 and Quanta U82 and since it was pin compatible thought whether its replaceable.

Someone asked the same question on VLAB ,one user said yes, but ymmv .There`s no mention of the Quanta U82 in the other 19 page thread .

There should be a few local distributors of major Laptop ICs in every country so that Laptop repairshops be able to receive the ICs quickly. ordering them overseas takes a lot of time.

Although kb9012 can work in behalf of kb9010, it may not be a long lasting replacement on some particular mainboard. It depends on the mainboard's circuit design. Therefore, such a replacement is generally not recommended.

I dont need to order overseas. Its available in my country but not in my city. I've ordered new 9010 kbc and it will take 4-5 days to reach me. Asked for other options as customer was in hurry. Now she has agreed to wait-so lets wait for the chip to arrive.

As per the vlab post, its specific to Quanta U82 and one of the members said should work but the original poster did'nt confirmed anything. So we cant be sure.

No ,it wasn`t confirmed, and its not worth the risk with a customer board. They`re always in a rush .

Sorry guys, i forgot to update about this thread. New kbc 9010 arrived and soldered. Dc jack light came up after flashing the new kbc. It switched on but no display. Flashed main bios from hp official update and got display.

So to sump up kbc was ba+bios needed to be flashed.

                      Thanks all for valuable inputs.

Macbook Air M2 A2681 Kernel panics after screen replacement
                        by reformatt
Just had a customer bring in a M2 MBA A2681 that had had a screen replacement in April at another repairer. Since then, she has been getting intermittent kernel panics. It's an aftermarket screen, and of course it fails in diagnostics as the calibration hasn't been done. The error in the panic log is "No device added after powering on the rails".

It seems the original repairer has swapped the board and the screen to other MAC's, and said that it isn't a screen issue. From what I understand, by doing a quick search on Google, this is in fact a screen issue. The panic relates...

Unknown transformer : how to find a good replacement part ?
                        by the_rem
                        Hello guys,

I would like a quite old but still good 800 W ATX PSU to be repaired. The problem was an extremely heavy coil whine coming from the small secondary transfomer on the PCB.

I desoldered it hoping the references on the upper side would allow me to find a adequate replacement part. Sadly the written references drove me nowhere but to the manufacturer (I-MAG). I sent them a message like a bottle in the see asking them to send me a datasheet of the transformer. And... They responded ! I received a kind of datasheet (see attachment) but my competencies do not allow...

PS4 controller left stick potentiometer replacement issue
                        by ezenia
                        Hello,

Not sure if this is the correct section, but I have a PS4 controller that I am trying to fix. It developed stick drift on the left stick and the usual simpler methods did not fix the problem.

So I went on eBay and ordered some replacement potentiometers. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174967976757 is where I got them from.

I took the green potentiometers off the replacement sticks and soldered them onto the PCB. Assembled the controller and ran some tests. The drifting was somewhat fixed (not fully in center, but way better than before). However,...

i have a 2020 macbook pro 13" A2251 with 820-09149 logic board so i found an issue with chip labeled U6903 according to schem. boardview using flexBV software, so i removed it from the board and the issue im having is that the chip says "07A08FI ELC180" on top of it but when searching for a replacement chip, i can find tons of identical looking chips that also have "ELC180" printed on them but the first set of digits is never the same so im trying to find out if i need this exact chip with these same numbers as mine and if not which ones are compatible as a replacement?...

                        by r2digital
I have a klipsch kda-500 that would turn on and allow me to get into the web management but it was picking up a lot of noise from audio sources so i decided to replace the smd caps on the power supply along with radial one. Some one was in here before me and they basically burned the bottom side of the traces off for the radial cap but i was able to repair it without any real problem. I thought i did a good job sourcing out replacement caps but apparently not and now i can't get the power supply to turn on it just constantly try's to keep turning on. Attached is a picture of the power supply before...
