Samsung cut out after 30mins Always

    Hi,

I have a Samsung here that cuts out everytime at exactly 30mins. Every single time.

    Details:
Make / Model Series: Samsung NP300E5C
    Model: Scala3-15/17crv
    Rev: 1.2
    BA41-01979A | PTC

I need some help with things I could check as I'm thinking that something is timing it and then issuing a cmd to kill power.

    Did Bios update/upgrade
    Checked Cmos batt and circuit
Tried Other ram / Cpu even tried higher and lower spec cpu. Celeron(intel) & i3/i5
Reflowed PCH as it got hot.
Checked for Nec/tokin doesn't have that shit.
Checked dim Switch. Because if its on and running and you close the lid and reopen the time gets extended but it resets. Example
Startup 0mins ----running--- 25mins | close lit , awake | time resets and gives exactly another 30mins.

Its not heat, checked temps checked fan checked pipes.
Its not windows ran in linux did the same, infact even just having the bios setup screen open it cuts out. No restart just dead / cutout. Starts up fine afterwards.

3.3 Ok , 5v OK 19v fine, 1.5v fine 1.1v fine Everything power related in the sense of ICs / Mosfets circuit is okay.

I have an extra BIOS chip in case the actual chip is faulty but thats my last resort as I only have the 1 extact same chip.

Any ideas would be very helpful.

    Thanks.
    MJ

Hi Mielta, can you elaborate on the "fix it with UEFI tool"
I would like to learn about this ME Region stuff.

you have to use eeprom programmer...that is the best way...

agree with djosla, if you have spi programmer you can try to backup existing bios, and post here maybe someone can help to analyze and fix for you..
from your chipset hm75 so clear there's no related cpu issued... because for hm70 cpu issued 30min will shutdown if use i3cpu or above..

Damit... I do have a Raspberry & Arduino... Havent had time to finish the arduino custom eeprom programmer circuit... Guess I should do that then...

Also for anyone interested some more info on this so called ME region.
Links: me_cleaner to neutralize ME firmware
                    Info On neutralizing
And pdf about intel ME secrets.

The whole ME microcontroller sounds a bit dodge tbh.

                    Anyway
                    @Djosla
Since i dont have a programmer do you think replacing the Physical BIOS chip as is would be fine? (I have the exact same chip (and as far as I know it works Ok.))

Yes it would be fine...but you also need bios with clear me region preprogramed...you can`t just transfer the chip from different unit...you could have problems...to ensure compatibility with your motherboard,it would be nice to clean me on your dump...

Okay yeah that makes sense. Just wanted to find out getting a backup of the .rom would that work? or do I have to get a .bin Dump?? because I have a .rom backup of the bios (the samsung with the issue)

*busy setting up the pi with flashrom and seeing if i could pull something from it.

Sorry forgot to add ^ that I have this software that enables a person to "backup" a bios to .rom (Software is Bios Backup Toolkit) is that the same as a dumb? or not.

It is , but it just does not work properly on many platforms...It does not read properly...Nevertheless you need programmer for writing bios...updating from os just updates the bios region and not menagement partition...

Ah okay thanks for clearing that up @Djosla.
Well I'll post back here when I have something worth anything.

                                SLJ8F = Celeron and maximum i3 running.
For i5 and upper SLJ8E pch.
