    Dell N5040 wont turn on

    Hi everyone,

    The problem is the laptop won’t turn on. When I connect the power adapter the LED of the power turns on without pressing power button, I measure 19.5v(power jack), 3.3v (battery connector),3.3V, 5V and 1.8v are present but CPU _core, 1.5v of memory are not present.

    There is no short to ground of Vcore, ddr circuit, no heating circuit, no Ampere consummation (tested with power bunch, 0.9 A)

    I flash bios with many worked files from the forum with no results.

    What can I do…please help me

          turning on without pressing powerbutton is mostly failure of SIO chip or NB

          try to heat up NB to 120c, let it cool a while and check

              Hi everyone,

              I am dealing with the problem of turning on and off my Dell e7470 notebook.

              The battery charge light is solid white, I press the button, the power indicator and the light on the button are solid for 1-2 seconds and immediately turn off.

              The system does not turn on, there is no post.

              I removed the RAMs and changed them, changed the battery, RTC battery, AC adapter, removed them and waited, tried again, it does not turn on.
              The problem continues in the same way.
              I tried to turn on the Fn key, nothing came to the screen....

              My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?

              Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

              My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
              The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.

              I just recieved a working laptop for a quick dc port swap, i tested the laptop on battery it worked, tested dc port issue felt loose, so disassembled the laptop and removed battery connector, swapped the dc port, re-connected the battery connector, inserted dc pin, white led glowed up - stable, pressed power switch, but it didn't turn on, no fan spin and no display. just 1 white led that glows up, doesn't move to orange (charging), i check voltage (battery : 11.37v) (dc input port : 19.3v)(bios : 1.75), i am stumped, there is no shorting on board.

              • Issue: Won't turn on at all, no leds, no keyboard light, no fan spin, nothing happens when pressing power button. NOTHING.

              Hello,

              I have a Lenovo MB LC40CM 19863-1 when press button is pushed the keyboard backlight turns on and off twice and the power button light keeps blinking and the fans spins for a few seconds and stops then again spins and stops (Three times) then laptop turns off. no image on screen. sometime when you leave it for few days it will turn on and work but once you restart it won't turn on.

              Tried to reball RAM 1,2,3,4
              Checked all voltages on big coils all present except 1V_VCCGT is not present I get 0V on this rail. is this voltage should be present once power button...
