                  Re: Compaq NX6310 display ?

That LCD screen is bad. Solid vertical or horizontal lines are caused by the flat flex cables starting to come loose. The fix is usually to replace the screen.

Repairing the screen isn't impossible but it is difficult. They are attached using a special anisotropic adhesive and a hot bar bonding machine. Most people don't have those things.

Some people have had luck heating the cables with moderate heat using hot air or a soldering iron with a large, flat tip. But you have to hold them down gently with another object until they cool. It's easy to make the problem worse instead of better.

Heating the connector connected to the board? The plastic will melt..how about cleaning with alcohol?

                      Re: Compaq NX6310 display ?

There is no connector. I am talking about the flat cables that connect the circuit board *on the LCD* to the actual pixels of the LCD. They are attached with a special conductive adhesive. Sometimes they are covered by plastic or tape. But they are there. Usually there is a warning saying not to touch that part of the LCD because the cables are so easy to damage.

It looks like you probably have 6 vertical ones. When the cables start coming loose, entire columns of pixels stop working. One cable is completely loose and that's why you have a large black stripe.

See the attached picture for an example from a different LCD. The cables are circled.

They are rarely repaired. Most people just replace the LCD. But sometimes heating them under pressure works.

There's no such a thing like that on my lcd...
I'll show you the photo later on...

There's one connector to motherboard and the other one to LCD,
both are releaseable, I'm thinking replacing the membrane only...and it will solve the issue....

I really think you should just replace the screen. I mentioned repairing it just as something interesting to try. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't.

The cable in your pictures connects the motherboard to the circuit board on the LCD. The circuit board on the LCD is called a T-Con board. There are several flat cables that connect the T-Con board to the actual pixels inside the LCD. And those are the cables I'm talking about. Sometimes there is plastic or tape covering the T-Con board, but the board is always there.

The attached picture is an another example of a different LCD. This example has tape covering the T-Con board. You cannot see the cables I'm talking about unless you can see the whole T-Con board. Yours might have tape like that. Or it might have something else covering the board.

Yes, some screens have silver film/tape on the back. If I could see the entire back of the LCD (kind of like the pictures I shared), then that would help.

                                    Re: Compaq NX6310 display ?

Yes, those are the cables. You can move that plastic out of the way and heat them. Each cable controls the pixel columns next to it. You should probably try fixing the spot that had the big black stripe first. That was the worst one.

The correct way to do it is to remove the old adhesive and replace it. But you would have to buy the special adhesive and it's not cheap. So.. most people just try to heat it. Sometimes it fixes it and sometimes it doesn't. The screen is bad now, so you have nothing to lose. If it doesn't work, just get a new screen.

You don't need high high heat. Use less heat then you would for solder. Too much heat will damage the cables or the LCD. I recommend putting something on top to protect them, like aluminum foil or kapton tape.

                                    Do it like this:
                                    1) Apply even firm and pressure to the cable with something
                                    2) Heat the cable
                                    3) Stop heating it
                                    4) After it cools, remove the pressure
                                    5) Test the LCD
                                    6) Repeat

Start with medium heat. Increase it if you need to. Or increase the heating time
