    Pavilion G6 dead

    Hello Guys,

There is a problem in my HP G6 with mobo DA0R33MB6E0 REV:E R33
At first, the board would start, but black screen.
I programmed both eeproms, but no chnage.
Than suddenly, there was a shortage on the board and nothing works anymore. I think I found the shortage in PQ11 and PU5. I replaced them, no shortage anymore but also no life in mobo.
I measured the following voltages up til now,

    PU8, PU5 and PU9, see text files.

    on/off switch has 3,3v

Can somebody pls help me to look in the right direction?

    thx

    Re: Pavilion G6 dead

Pls Guys, I need some help.
I have been checking voltages around U9 and the schematic says ACDET=13V,but I measure 3v. No leds are comming on so I would think that the signal should be 13V. But where is this 13V made. At +VAD_1 I have 19V, but after resistor PR47 it have 3V and also at +PWRSRC it has 19V and after resistor PR100 it shows 3V. Is there a mistake?

YOU are say that on/off switch has 3,3v
      and says ACDET=13V,but I measure 3v.

and you are in pin 8 SDA AND PIN 9 SCL =0VOLT
I THINK that your bq is damaged

tel me about the pin 77.78 OF KB3940 PAGE 30 how is the volt .if you found 3.3v you can changing your PU9 =BQ24738

        Thanks for reaction.
I do not have 3V on on/off switch anymore, I don't know why.

        On pin 77 and 78 on KB3940 = 0V

I said that ACDET is 13V, but that is not me, this is written on the schematics.

I think that the problem is in PU8 or in the around of him .
                  v out 7= 0v
                  vreg5 pin17= 4,6v you must found 5.10v
                  vreg 3 pin8= 3,3v ok
                  pin 10 -11-12-5-21-22-19 no good
                  p in -PU8 pin 16- you must found 19v

                    Re: Pavilion G6 dead

Sorry for the delay and thx for your patience.

I am very confused now, because the previous voltage I measured changed.
                    PU8: pin 8 =0,5v pin 9= 4,35v
                    pin 7= 0v. pin17=4,24v
                    pin16= 7,02v

I don't know why this happened.
                    I found EC12 and PC95 with 1 side burned. EC12 more than PC95.

I will try and replace PU8 tomorrow.

Finally I got to replace PU8 and the 2 capacitors EC12 and PC95.

the readings on PU8 are now:
                      pin 1,2,5,6,7,10,11,12,14,15,18,19,20,21,23,24 are 0V
                      pin 3= 2,86V
                      pin 4= 5,02V
                      pin 8= 3,35V
                      pin 9= 4,57V
                      pin 13= 2,86V
                      pin 16= 19,86V
                      pin 17= 5,10V
                      pin 22= 4,57V

                      Now on U18 pin8= 3,35V
                      Also on U14 pin 77,78= 3,35V

                        NOW the work is ok
IF the problem is not solved
what about PQ35-PQ54 HAVE YOU 3.3V
                        AND PQ51-PQ52 have you 5.10v
and now YOU are in on/off switch 3,3v
if all is ok and you are 3.3v (sometimes no ) in pin 8 of U31 (PCH SPI ROM -page7)
if yes you make return your 2 dumps after (I programmed both eeproms, but no chnage)
IF stay teh same you flashing with any g6 BID 0183A.
                        good chance

now sure the problem is in PU8 or around him
                                i think that a composant as PQ51-PQ52- PQ54 -PQ53 cause the damage for pu8
search for a short ciruit in 4 mosfet or an other composant near from
and make sure that your pu8 is good placed

                                    PU8 pin 7, 24 and 23 are 0V
I will look if I can find shortag

                                    Before you say,that if pin 77 and 78 of KB3940 are 3,3V, replace BQ24738.
Now the pins 77 and 78 are 3.35V again. Should I replace?

PL16 had a loose contact and I replaced it. After that, PU5 get's very hot, so there is a shortage somewhere. Can you advise where to look?

                                      On PC211 I have 56 Ohm

                                        PU8 pin 7, 24 and 23 are 0V
I will look if I can find shortag

                                        Before you say,that if pin 77 and 78 of KB3940 are 3,3V, replace BQ24738.
Now the pins 77 and 78 are 3.35V again. Should I replace?
before sda and scl =0v and the 3.3 v is corupted by pu8 after changing it is ok and you must forgot bq now .
