Is it powering on? I was working on a CQ-61 in 2014 and it would power on, but just LEDs, fans and drives. Nothing else, straight-up failed to boot! It was likely a CPU failure. It was way too hot for stock.
Your description sounds like a totally different problem, with the KBC instead...

I dunno, that's a different issue. That could be bad NEC/Tokin caps.
