Acer Aspire E1-571 Totally Dead, No Power

    Hi guys

I'm troubleshooting my Acer Aspire E1-571. It is totally dead. It will not turn on or charge the battery. There are no lights at all.

I get 19V at MOSFET PQ9, which is right next to the charger connector. But then I don't get anything more than 0.5v anywhere else on the board.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

    1. check if B+ shorted to ground
    2. check PQ9, PQ10,PQ11 if shorted (D-S, S-D)

Thanks for your help. B+ appears to be shorted to ground. PQ9, PQ10 and PQ11 are not shorted.

Any ideas on what to do to find out where B+ is shorting?

My approach to find out the short would be to get the schematic and start looking each of the components that are connected to the B+ line and test each component for a short.

            - the quick way to finding shorted, try inject voltage at B+ with Lab Bench PSU, increase voltage slowly from 0.5v little by little till you get any component be warm/hot. usually caps, mosfet or IC. be carefully if any mosfet for high side and low side shorted maybe causing voltage goes to output/load. then make worst to other component that have low limit voltage. like cpucore, 1.05vs. so never increase more than 1v (dangerous, just for expert)
            - you look in schematic from P.47- P.53, the B+ line connect to other component via PL/inductor, try to isolate the shorted till that shorted just 1 block. ie charger block has PL3, block 3.3valwp/5valwp has PL5. ( more safety)
