Toshiba l775 cpu temperature reading problems

Hi everybody,

I have a problem with a toshiba l775 motherboard (intel cpu version),
that leave me in a state of perplexity..
maybe someone can help me..

I buy this second hand laptop on ebay,
the seller told it has a overheating problem,
probably due to the cpu fan..

I change, the thermal paste, buy a new fan..
And the problem continues...

In fact the cpu temperature reading are erratics, they jump like 30°C up or down.. instable readings.. and this even when there is no cpu load...
So after sometime, the motherboard shut down, because of some high temperature readings.. except that the cpu is not hot at all..
just wrong cpu temperature readings...


I though the cpu was the cause, so I test various compatible cpu I have in stock,
pentium b960, core i3, core i5-2410m core i5-2430m,
all the cpu show the same temperature reading problem...

When I try them on another motherboard, they work fine..

so the problem come from the motherboard definetly...
I try also flashing the bios, to various version, and the problem is stiil here...

I am not sure if the cpu temperature sensor is on the motherboard, or on the cpu.. for me it would be logic that they are on the cpu, because, there is one sensor for each core.. and you can put dual core, or even quad core processor (like i7) ...

On the introduction on bad capacitors on badcaps.net, it is written that bad capacitors can cause bad cpu temperature readings..????
could it be a capacitor problem?

Or maybe some instability in cpu voltage? so in the power supply of the motherboard??

Maybe someone got the same problem before..and could help me I hope..

u might try bios, but make backup first
might be ME region problem

Well, technically I already try to flash the bios..

I have unsoldered the chip,
I've done a bios dump backup,
then flash back...and resolder...

I'm gona try again with you dump.
who knows...

What's the difference between the two bios ? different version?

two versions of the board, so two bioses

its not the same to update bios trough windows and to flash it with programmer
sometimes update do not update ME region and ME can cause problems like you described

anyways it cant hurt to try

Well I try to flash the bios file you give me
with winFlash utility toshiba provide for bios update..

but it refuse to open this bios file..

so do I have to flash it via an external bios programmer?

or what flash utility to use?
