    Totally dead eliteBook 8730W

I have totally dead (not charging, leds wont lid wont power) EliteBook 8730W
It has signs of smoke trails beween Q5105 and Q5027 but not clearly burnt components

It would be really helpful to get schematics to it if some one have them.

Both parts are mosfets does anyone know would them broke "without" reason
or is there always root cause somewhere.

This laptop went dead while in use it did just power off.

I have found this schematic searching in Goggle.

See if it matches your motherboard.

I got slight progress to this project.
+V3AL is down just around 100mV, resistance over C5685 is around 2Ohm so line is definently down also TPS51120 goes warm and +V4A and +V3A are down other voltages generated by it are ok.

you have the good voltage on the bios chip.

No +V3AL is missing so no voltage on bios chip.

Do have +V3AL coming out from (TPS51120) on Page 4.

No +V3AL is just 100mV so I would say No and from +V3AL to ground has just 2-5Ohm

What is the voltage that is coming in on the TPS51120.

As you mentioned c5685 so this not in related stage.
first you check the main supply voltage line R115 if you received adopter or batt voltage on the said resistor then check the same voltage pin 22 of TPS51120. if the voltage is present on pin22 and 3AL(pin19)+5AL(pin21) are not present and no short circuit on both line (3AL5AL&V3A,V5A) then i think TPS is dead.

TPS goes pretty warm so I guess it goes to over current protection mode but those are just my guess,

19.8V is pretsent at TPS51120 pin 22 asnd over resistor R115.

                          Voltages V2REF is 2.0V, +5VAL is 4,98V
                          Voltages +V3A, +V3AL and +V5A is missing

This computer is working now got cheap "low" end 8730W with ati gfx and I did take mb from it.

Anyway I hope that I have more time over summer to debug old board and infor failure from it I have already bunch of components waiting but time is the problem.
