    Re: Acer E1-531 won't start

Ok on the left I've 190K ohms while the right is 10khm its clear then that its shorted. The left side is connected to the PQ22 which again goes too PU2.
And since I did a wrong measure the PL5 is actually 1K Ohm stable. While the PL4 is shorted then.

      Re: Acer E1-531 won't start

so you lifted PL4 and the pads are still shorted to ground?
Just cook it! It's already broken.

Yea that are the measures after I lifted the PL4. Left is 195K Ohms, and right is something around 11-12K.

          Re: Acer E1-531 won't start

i think there is a short to ground

so! can you lift PL3 up? and see the voltage? like on the left side there needs to be normal voltage or even if you dont lift it what voltage do you got there?

1 Question shall I put back the PL4 or plug he adapter in without it?

                Re: Acer E1-531 won't start

Neither of them gives me full beep, but I got some value, the left one (the number 2 on the schematic) gives me 183 while the right one gives me 483. (The PL5 isn't lifted and on both sides I get 183).
The PL3 (not lifted) gives me full beep.

you dont need to lift both sides only one leg!

do you get any voltage on PL3?

                    Re: Acer E1-531 won't start

PL4 and PL5 don't give me continous beep, PL3 does.
Before I plug in to test do I have voltage shall I solder back the legs of PL4 and 5?

                      yee
solder back those PL now lets focus near PL3

                      Lift one leg from PL3

Ok soldered back and measured the PL3 no voltage.
                        1 Leg lifted.

What do you mean with "both sides"?
The left side has no voltage whatsoever while the right one has 28mV.

Started to measure the PU1 voltages, and the PQ7 burned again.

and if there is a short on pads with ground after right side of left side?
witch ppins are shorted to ground?

Actually, the PU1 relased a awful smell (like its burned).

Well I'll put this aside, thanks a lot for you help . To be honest I learned a lot, but it wasn't meant to be repaired.
I'll go tmrw and get a used board and fix it up for the client, the weird part is that the adapter (the orginal one) isn't working any more either. Well such things happen have to get used to them :P.
Well I was wrong the PQ7 burned not the PU1. Actaully I left it now to see where the smoke comes and it started to ignite. So a short there.
Have to go now, when I come home will test again everything.

                                          no!
that`s a good board to learn how to fix.
Now you buy a QFN chip (PU1) and swap it and see !

always go and invest in something new so you can learn.

if its urgent yee swap the board and fix the client
ok. Good luck but when you got 5 min put back the board on the table and check stuff.

1st you can take the QFN chip and see if other voltage come to pads . do you understand me right? qfn chip bad or some caps? or other stuff
