    Toshiba A205-S7468 Freezes

    A205-S7468 Laptop
    Windows 7 Ultimate
    2 GB RAM
    Motherboard: 6050A2109401-MB-A02

Freezes 3 or 4 minutes after power on, if the laptop is fully assembled. No difference if in Windows, BIOS setup or Live Linux CD, battery or Adapter or both. Thought it could be the OE128 Tokin so I replaced it with 4 330UF 2.5V 9mOHM capacitors. Made no difference.

With the keyboard, touchpad and palm rest panel removed the laptop runs and never freezes. Downloaded and installed Speccy and it reports these temps:
    CPU 53 degrees C.
    MB 52 degrees C.
    HDD 39 degrees C.

To the touch all MB components feel only warm except the group of components at the corner of the heatsink base with the black dot in one picture. Q8, Q9, Q12, Q17, Q19 run so hot I can't hold my finger on them. I have no way of checking the actual temp as my test equipment consists of a DMM.

I do not have a schematic of the MB and I couldn't understand it if I did. I am not a tech, just an 82 year old man trying to repair a laptop. Any help in troubleshooting which components I need to replace is really appreciated. Hope the pictures are clear. If more pictures are needed of the back of the MB I can take them. Thanks.

I have just had one of my Satellite A200s open. The main board looks just the same. I noticed that the lower 3 MOSFETs were very hot. The upper 3 were warm. I thought this was wrong but now I think it's normal.
Try heating selected areas of your mainboard.
