I'm trying to get an MS-15831 Ver 1 motherboard fixed. Input voltage is present at 19V, there is 3.3v on the Power button which drops to 0v when power button pressed but laptop doesn't start up. The 3.3V and 5V rails pulse on when the power button is pressed but pretty much nothing else. It does not appear to draw any current when the battery is attached either - Just getting a pulse of 330ma current draw when the power button is pressed which then drops off within a second. I can find no schematic or anything for this laptop so was hoping someone might have some idea on where to check next?

Checked all the coils for shorts? Sounds like something is unhappy power-wise. Some pictures of the board especially the charger IC area would be helpful. -
Yes I did there are no shorts anywhere and normal low resistance readings on the CPU and GPU Coils. I think it's probably a dead chipset as when i hover over the cpu with thermal cam and prompt it to start the corner of the chipset chip lights up very hot for a second - probably it has some internal short.Comment
