    Gateway P5WS0/NV57H58u laptop (P5WEO LA-6901P REV:2.0) - (Possible) Multiple Issues

    Greetings everyone,

I have a Gateway P5WS0/NV57H58u laptop (P5WEO LA-6901P REV:2.0). The client said the battery was not charging. Upon checking the laptop,

    1) On pressing the power button, the (power button) light turns on and stays on.
    2) There is no boot, or anything on the screen.
    3) The fan starts and stops a few times, then it stops completely.
    4) The light on the power button remains on.
    5) Battery not charging (original issue).

The original problem was that the battery was not charging, but the laptop still worked. My belief is that the ISL 6251 IC is not functioning properly and therefore needs to be replaced. Regarding the ISL 6251 IC, when the voltage on PIN# 127 of the EC/SIO chip was being measured, there was a clicking sound (believed to be) coming from the ISL 6251 IC. The same sound was noticed while the voltages were being measured on the other side of the board (ISL 6251 IC), particularly, the 1.4V.
The confusion is, unlike in the attached first annotated photo, there is NO ACIN/EN voltage (STEP 3), yet other (subsequent) steps still take place. There is also no voltage detected on the pins of the BIOS chip. The voltages measured on the capacitors around the EC/SIO chip appeared to be normal. I know I am close to a successful repair but, is there anything missing? Thank you for the help! On executing the steps in the first image below, my findings are as follows ...

    1 -
    2 -
    3 - - 19V detected before "PR359" and 1.4V after "PR359" but NO ACIN/EN voltage at PIN #3 on ISL 6251 (19V on PIN #24). "PR362" is good (100K). (ISL 6251 making clicking sound)
    4 -

    5 -
    6 -
    7 -
    8 - 2.5V detected on PIN#127 of EC/SIO chip (ISL 6251 making clicking sound)
    9 -
    0.6V detected on U-GATE and 0V on L-GATE of ISL 6251
10 - 3.3V on PIN #4 (TEMP), #5 (DATA) and #6 (CLK) on BATTERY CONNECTOR

    Greetings everyone,

    UPDATE:

Further troubleshooting revealed that the FSTCHG signal that is supposed to go from PIN 89 of the SIO chip to the voltage divider resistors, and subsequently to PIN #3 of the ISL 6251 IC, is not present. Now, I believe it is the SIO that needs attention, although the other voltages appear OK, and not the ISL 6251 IC. Can anyone please advise on what further steps should be taken? Thank you for the help!
