Hello everyone,
I'm experiencing an issue with my Alienware 15 R2 (Service Tag: DL7NN32). The laptop works perfectly when connected to the AC adapter — it powers on and functions normally. However, the battery does not charge. If I disconnect the DC adapter, the laptop shuts down immediately, as the battery is at 0%. I have replaced the battery with a new compatible one, but the issue persists. I also replaced the AC adapter with a compatible one, but the battery still doesn't charge.
To assist with troubleshooting, I'm attaching two power circuit schematics:
I'm relatively new to reading these schematics, and I would greatly appreciate it if someone could help me understand the COMPAL nomenclature used in the diagrams, such as: BATT++, VIN, B+, P1, P2, CHG_B+, etc.
Additionally, I've disassembled the laptop and noticed an odd component that seems to be damaged. On the schematic, it's labeled as PL701, and it appears to be burnt. I've attached a photo of it as well.
If anyone can offer insight into whether the issue is related to a MOSFET, capacitor, inductor, or if the damaged component might be causing the charging problem, I would be immensely grateful for your help in resolving this issue.
Thank you so much in advance for any assistance!
Best regards,
Simone
