After flashing firmware the laptop boots into the BIOS, but I get a flash of the logo, and then it goes to black screen the majority of the time. There have been times when it boots into the BIOS and the logo flashes in the center of the screen and it goes to black screen. Then, there have been times when it boots into the BIOS, but only half of the screen is visible. The BIOS screen is completely visible, cropped into half of the screen. What would the suggestions be in this case? I suspect the GPU has solder issues, but I am not sure.

I wanted to add that I checked to see if there was a display signal on USB-C and HDMI, but it was not present. Even when I get the two situations above I have no display on USB-C or HDMI. The backlight is working correctly, as far as I can tell. I have performed these tests with the drive disconnected. I figured if it has problems with the drive disconnected then it was and issue with the BIOS or the GPU. Please let me know what you guys think and what steps should I take now.

Most of these boards wont gibe display on hdmi in dos mode and will only show picture on external monitor in windows only.

Was it not booting at all before firmware flash? The firmware chip is located close to cpu/gpu/pch?

If the chip is located close to cpu/gpu/pch, it may be heat that revived the unit.

If its located close to these chips,flash the original firmware back and see if you get the display.

It was booting intermittently into the BIOS, but after reflashing it boots into BIOS all the time. The problem is with the video as I described above.
