ASUS G531GW Rev 1.6 – Shorted CPU? Any Hope for Repair?

Hey everyone,

I have an ASUS G531GW Rev 1.6 laptop with what seems to be a shorted CPU. I took a thermal image while powering it on, and as you can see in the picture, only a small part of the CPU area heats up instantly. The laptop doesn't boot, no display.

I'm wondering—does this mean the CPU is completely dead, or is there any possible fix?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I think it's not a really Good idea to run laptop without thermal assembly
What the symptoms Of your laptop?
Please first re-assemble thermal assembly.

Does it post? Try caps lock on/off.
Fans spinning?
check ram?
If you have schematic or boardview you may take some measurement.

It's ok to use the mainboard without heat sink for a few seconds.
Before you dispose your mainboard I would do the same test with a working mainboard of the same type and with the same CPU.
