Please check if you have any issue in the device manager particular to display . A blank screen happens when the external monitor is not capable of a higher resolution. Check the highest resolution your external monitor can safely handle. Try to reduce the screen resolution of your internal lcd display specially when you are in duplicate mode. Hope this helps.

are you the first owner of this laptop? does your laptop have an HDMI port? If all has been done to isolate the problem. The problem is inside your laptop.

Boot the PC with external monitor connected and once into windows press "Ctrol+P" and select duplicate. Does the display comes on external monitor?
Disconnect the internal screem and try on external monitor only. Does the display comes on external monitor?

Turn the scaling back down to 100% for the moment. The VGA is on a daughter board, check the ribbon cable ,leave it unplugged and try the DP again. Are you using a DP or HDMI monitor and are you using a DP to HDMI adapter

Have a look around the motherboard for a parade multiplex chip ,similar to the one in image, look for the parade name or logo, if you find one post the part number or pictures
