Dell Vostro 1450 restarts

Hi to all.dell vostro 1450 .
LAPTOP BOOTS early morning or evening boots fine to os desktop comes .stay fine for 5-10minutes then stars restarting time reduces .boots to dell logo .then only led blinks fan spins no display.
it has intel BD82HM67,
GPU CHIP AMD 216-0809024

Can you do a slight reflow on the GPU chipset?

Hi Ravi, restarting is caused by several issue. Check the air vents for dust blocking the air flow : overheating can cause this issue - Try with any Live Linux bootable OS to rule out any software issue. Lets do all easy diagnostics first and see how it goes. cheers

cephei sir ,thanks for reply i have already cheked heatsink ,fan, heatsink compound all r fine dust is also removed but still same condition

Hi Ravi, Well I assume you tried to boot the system with live Linux and didn't solve the issue. OK then, I will give another easy way to check the heat sink (if heat sink is faulty then there will be no heat transfer and system will shutdown) Open the laptop take the motherboard out - turn ON the m/b and start feeling the heat on top of the cpu and then feel near the vent (with fan running you should feel heat transferred instantly)

Now remove the fan connector from m/b - start feeling the heat without fan running - You should feel more heat near air vent : If not then its sink issue. Its another easy diagnostics before getting into more complex fix

To be very honest this kind of issues are very difficult to diagnosed or guess remotely, but here you will get some help and ideas from many people which should be useful for you. Good luck

hi most likely software problem just start in safe mode and see if it restarts if it doesnt then graphics or its driver

Mint Linux distro is good. Has all necessary software to begin with and adding new application is easy with software package management. Cheers

I know hiren's boot cd, I've been using it since version 9. Currently I'm using version 15.2 restored edition. Its the last version that uses paid applications (I think) The problem is when I use this on latest machine with hard drives 1TB onwards it does not detect it even some ssd's are not seen. So I think its outdated. I don't know how to edit the boot cd itself as I have no time for that.
