I have a macbook pro mid 2012 13 inch that is completely dead, magsafe charger plugged in- sometimes green light, sometimes nothing. I purchased this computer already broken, the person said (they often lie, but I believe him) that he tried to upgrade the HDD himself and when he put it together, the computer was dead.

The board is very clean, no water damage (I have worked on hundreds of water damaged boards, so I believe I am quite good at spotting the tiniest corrosion) This leads me to believe that he shorted something when working on it, prob with his screwdriver.

The battery is completely shot, I put it in a working pro and it does not charge, it only has 0.15V on it, which again leads me to believe that it was shorted. I even took this board and put it in my working late 2011, no life, and vice versa (put the working 2011 board in this computer, everything was working but it was slow as hell- I believe this is because the temp sensors are not cross-compatible)

        What I know:
The board has 2 fuses on it, one of which is on the magsafe port (I changed the whole magsafe port, so that is not it). But I found some conflicting information as to where the main fuse is. Most of the threads are on older macbooks, so they may not necessarily apply.

The battery is good (i put in a new, working battery)
        My charger is good
The magsafe DC board is good

        What I do not know:
how to read the schematics (sorry)
how to diagnose the board properly
        what to do next?

I tried to check some parts that I suspect are the fuse with my multimeter continuity function, I attached a picture with a board and what I measured. These are based on previous threads about older macbooks.

        On pics:
no 1: OK (multimeter goes to 0)
        2:OK
3:No reaction (Multimeter stays at 1)
        4: OK
        5: OK

These are based on some info from the net, some say the fuse is (was) near the display cable, some say it is down near the battery plug, or on the other side next to where magsafe DC plugs in.

To make this slightly more interesting and maybe to motivate people to help even a noob like myself, I decided to add a little twist: If you help me and we do get the board working, I will donate $100 to a charity or nonprofit of your choosing.

I was going to take the computer to an Apple store for diagnostics, but I would prefer to fix it myself. (out of warranty)
So as a courtesy to others following this thread, that I just found in a Google search, what component failed, and how did you fix your issue? Did you make a You tube video, or do you pictures of what you repaired? What really irritates me is people that ask me for help, I try and do my best to help them with their issue, then they never let you know if they fixed it or not or what solved the problem.

Looking for 13" Macbook Pro A1278 mid 2012 820-2565-A Schematics and Board View
          by Rezendes
Hello, I am looking for any and all files related to the mainboard for 820-2565-A (13" Macbook Pro A1278 mid 2012) schematics/board view.

I looked through forum search results and google and was unable to find a board view file, I found a pdf of all the schematics but I don't know where the parts physically are on the board as this is my first macbook board level repair attempt.

The macbook charger has a green light, the battery has been replaced and OS reports Normal status but Not charging. After cleaning a corroded capacitor it crumbled off the board. There...

Will I have a bricked logic board after reflow of the GPU v-core U8900 chip on my Mid-2012 15" Retina Macbook pro?
          by korben_dallas
Hi everyone! I'm trying to fix my black screen / failed U8900 GPU v-core on my Mid-2012 Macbook Pro 15" Retinaby doing a rework/reflow of the chip (once I determine that's the real issue; but it likely is).

I've been disabling the GPU in NVRAM for a few years... but it's just time for a better solution.

I'm new to soldering but the only feasible way to fix this issue is to do something myself.

          MY QUESTION:
I've been seeing some people (on this forum mostly) run into issues with the logic board needing a serial number or it being deactivated (?)...

MacBook Pro 2018 with Activation Lock
          by envym
          Hi everyone!

I have a 2018 MacBook Pro (with Sequoia OS) that I've been using for years with no problem. I recently received an M2 MacBook Pro so I'm mostly using it and not the 2018 one, but since a friend of mine needs a computer, I thought I could restore my 2018 and give it brand-new-like to my friend.

I tried using the built-in tool to restore the MacBook (Settings > General > Transfer or restore > Delete) but it got stuck when trying to remove the Find Device configuration (it asked me for the password for my old Apple ID -now I use the same account but...
