This will confirm that U6903 is defective since it wimps out upon attaching the downstream (consumer side) load.
I tried this and it kicks the charger to 20V.
Current on the charger goes up over an amp and then drops down to almost nothing. (maybe to be expected since it's not taking to the regulator.

Excellent. Replace U6903 and consider to also replace the dual common cathode diode and test again.

Okay, so I think I have it sorted. Upon testing R6907, instead of 2R2 ,I was getting around 62 ohms, I replaced it with a new resistor, and tested and the charger immediately went to 20V.

Im getting 3.4V on R6923 (while on the board) and Im getting 12.61V on PPBUS_G3H.

D6902 is also bad though, as when I put it back on the board instead of the wire I had for testing, it no longer was getting 20V from the charger and the other voltages also dropped to the old values.

A new diode (need to source a replacement, would windows laptops have similar ones?) and it should be back up and running!

Really appreciate your help on this mon2 you really helped with the whole troubleshooting process. Thank you

Bravo! Well done. The least I can do for the great music from your side (U2 / Pogues / Van Morrison)

Yes, you may be able to find one on the charger IC of any laptop. It will be used in a similar way - one anode will be from the battery / other anode from the DC power adapter. Cathode to the charger IC to power via VCC pin. However the physical fit may be a bit off but will work if you can squeeze it onto the PCB pads. Worth a try.

          Otherwise...

          D6902 = BAT30CWFILM

BAT30CWFILM STMicroelectronics | Discrete Semiconductor Products | DigiKey

Mouser should also have stock of these.

Good taste in music I see

Perfect, I will have a quick look at some boards I have here, if not I will order from a local electronics site, they seem to have the exact correct one (although they have a MOQ of 25 lol).

Thanks again and enjoy your day! (or night lol)

              Macbook a1707 - 3 ports cycling and 1 stuck on 5v
              by vanromic
Hello! I'm trying to resuscitate a Macbook that the local tech gave up on. I have the board view and schematic and have the main board out of the case.

Of the 4 usb-c ports, 3 cycle at 5V - they all go up to about 1.5A, then seem to switch off, back to 5V 0A, up to 1.5A, and off again. The cycle lasts a few seconds - maybe 3s.

The 4th port doesn't cycle and draws ~0.5A at 5V consistently. It seems it's the port linked to U3100 - it's on that side of the board and is the port closest to the battery and the CD3215C00 chips.

I've read that the CD3215s are...

Macbook a1707 820-00281 Battery no Power
              by leonemax81
Hi guys I have a Macbook a1707 with motherboard 820-00281, without liquid damage that behaves strangely, with the battery connected the Macbook does not turn on and the USBC meter stops at 5v in loop, when I disconnect the battery the Macbook turns on and works fine, I have already tried to replace the battery twice without success, as soon as I connect the black cable of the battery the Macbook does not turn on, it stops at 5v and in loop.

              MacBook Pro 13 inch A2238 M2 stuck on 5V
              by Bmet
              Hi,

I have a MacBook Pro 13 inch A2238 M2 and it was stuck 5V with 0 amps. I measured some important lines and I found a short on PP3V8_AON_MPMU_ISNS_VIN, I tried injecting 1v and I saw heat coming from the mPMU so I removed the pmu thinking that was the problem. I don't know why I didn't check the other side of the border but there it was, a shorted cap. I replaced the cap and the short was gone, so I reballed the PMU and put it on again but voltage was still stuck at 5V and the current was fluctuating between 0 and 0.45 amps. I checked under the thermal camera and I saw the mPM...

              Macbook Pro A1706 820-00923-05 Stuck At 5V 0.03A
              by Steven Pieter
hello everyone, let me ask, I have a macbook which is stuck at 5v and 0.03 A when tested with a usb tester. Previously I wanted to replace the screen on the device, but by accident I forgot to unplug the battery. This caused the MacBook to get stuck at 5v, previously I had replaced the CD3215 (U3100) IC because it was warm. After I replaced it the problem was still not resolved. Please guide. Thank you

              Macbook a1707 2017 model 820-00928 GPU issue
              by sofles
              Hello there

I have problem with Macbook Pro 15" 2017, model 2017, MB code 820-00928.

I bought it as broken with some artefacts on the screen, first I thought that this is problem with ribbon cable but after inspectiing ribbon cable I know it is fine. I tried to reinstall macOs and then I figured out that this must be something with GPU as installation freezes at the end (when drivers are loaded). I installed Windows and was able to install every each of drivers except GPU driver, as soon as I tried to install GPU driver - black screen and restart.
