This is a guide that I am writing for helping others to replace their MEC1503 EC chip if it breaks (or to get around an inconvenient prompt to the BIOS). Hi all,
got a latitude off of a old colleague which is stuck at 5v and not turning on no signs of life.
ive done some digging and it seems like pu4501 (5193 ti 1a8 adgh is the chip markings) is shorted. Getting up to around 74c. Haven't removed it yet because i haven't been able to confirm what chip it is.
Googling the markings brought up only one result, tps 51396 but the markings are 51393 so I'm assuming it's a tps51393 but googling that it seems like the chip engravings are different to the one I have so I wanted to confirm whether my assumption was right... -
Long story short:
- dad converted Asus Chromebox CN62 into Windows compatible, with mrchromebox BIOS, years and years ago
- gave the computer to his son a couple years later
- son now decided to revert it to Chrome OS, to sell it as original (re-writing BIOS with the backup one created by his dad)
- too lazy to remove the board from the case, thought a voltage regulator was the BIOS chip (you know... it has 8 legs)

I've purchased 2nd hand Dell Latitude E7470 i7-6600U and it works fine, except ... there are no TPM or TXT/Trusted Execution settings in the BIOS/Firmware. However, looking at the schematics I found the chip handling TPM (NPCT650JA0YX) soldered to the system board. Also, looking at the service tag and the product specifications, this device comes with TPM (and vPro) support (I know that devices sold in China, Russia are not allowed to ship with TPM but this should be reflected in the service tag). I can also login to MBex to configure, etc.
