    HP DV6-2020SA bad ram slot?

Got a DV6 here, just went to upgrade the ram and found the inner most slot to be faulty. The laptop won't post with anything in it (beeps to indicate no memory) but will post with ram in both slots, indicating the system isn't recognising that the first slot is even there.

How do you test a ram slot? Is there a specific voltage on a pin that you can test for? It's an AMD CPU so I think stripping it down and swapping the processor would bring the slot back up, but I'm not sure I want to do that after how much trouble this laptop's given me!

So it boots with both slots occupied, can you check with CPU-Z or in the BIOS that the innermost slot is not detected?

There should be +1.8v and +0.9v supplies to the slot presuming it is DDR2. You can find the locations on the schematic. What is the part number of the motherboard.
