Sony Vaio SVE1513H1EB Screen fuse location

This information provided for reference only. Use at your own risk.

Had the above VAIO to repair recently. Title reference is the product name. There's also a model number: SVE151J13M.

Screen was damaged and needed replaced but also dark when powered on.

I located what appeared to be a fuse next to the four-pin power cable socket on the motherboard.

If you remove the rear base plastic of the laptop and have the battery compartment at the top of your desk/workbench you should see the white power socket and black screen cable socket underneath.

To the left of the display cable socket is a tiny capacitor and to the left of that is what I determined to be the fuse. It's three mm long, coloured tan, marked "N". There are markings on the motherboard "F4" and "1A". I've attached a diagram - my camera doesn't show the detail very well.

Removing this and replacing it with a solder blob got the screen lit again.

I'm currently attempting to source a replacement fuse, but the blob at least works as a temporary fix.

Thanks for a great post mate. I have the same problem with the same model of Vaio. Done just as your post indicated and it`s working for me.

It seems to be a common fault on this model but it`s taken me quite a while to come across your post!
