acer travelmate 5520 - Blinking Power adapter

Anyone have any info on a Acer travelmate with a flashing led on the power adapter. Possibly a shorted capacitor but I'm having no luck tracking it down? The Motherboard Model is a POMONA: 48.4T701.021.

i am certain its suppose to be steady on sounds like a failing power adapter you will need to test its voltage do you have digital multimeter?

i agree with heavymachines, try the basics first before you go to board level repair. maybe try with a new charger.

The power supply is definitely ok. I have a few of these machines, so I was able to rule out the power supply & main battery.

you will find it is a short on the input side of M/B.

I've eliminated the power jack. Any other ideas?

Hi,

Don't know this laptop but got similar issue with a acer aspire 5740g, when you plug the power adapter the power adapter led stop (i think power adapted go in protection mode).

There was a short in the Laptop DC input (you can check with a multimeter if you have short circuit).

The issue finally was a protection diode in short circuit.
not exactly the same issue as you but it could maybe help.

If LED on adapter is blinking then there should be blow caps or problem tiny transistors on adapter.
I fixed couple of adapters with such issues.
