dell vostro 1400 no sound in speakers

i have a sound problem with dell vostro 1400.when i plug in headphones the sound is present but when i plug out headphones there is no sound in spekers. i have been checked the speakers they are perfect .also checked the connector and found ok. so now i cant understand where the problem is

Check U19. Check if there is audio input at PINS 2 and 3 and also if there is audio output on PINS 6,7 and 19,20. Also check voltages on PINS 4,8,9,17,18,30.Let us know of any developments.

I recently fixed a Sony home theatre DVD system that was stuck in headphone mode (googling at the time revealed it to be a common problem in that particular model). Your problem sounds identical.

There is a cable that connects the front headphone jack to the audio board and it had become loose at the audio board end. The fix was to simply resolder the plastic pin connector box on the audio board.

hi,

if it works using headphones then that only means the amp works.
try replacing the headphone connector if you can find one.
i bet you'll gonna ask why. these stereo jacks has switch inside. if no stereo plug is on, the line going to built-in speakers is on. while if the stereo plug is on, line going to built-in speaker is cut-off. that is why when we connect headphones, sound wont come out from built-in speakers.
