    Dead Acer Aspire 7750G

    Hi Guys,

Hoping someone may be of guidance as I slowly start my journey into chip level motherboard repair.

I have an Aspire 7750G that is completely dead. When you plug this laptop in nothing at all happens. No lights, nothing. It does appear though that liquid may have been spilled on the machine (could have been one of the friends but no one is owing up to it) as the keyboard is sticky. Also when I removed the keyboard it certainly looked like a small amount of liquidy substance was apparent. When looking at the motherboard though, I could not see anything untoward.

All I have done so far is watch a couple of vids on You Tube about chip level repair and I was watching this one in particular, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=goFnh...4&feature=plcp. Anyway, I was able to follow it for step 1, the checking of the VREG3 and VREG5. Both were showing voltages as expected. I could not follow the next step which involves checking voltages at the BIOS chip as I could not find it on the schematic https://cdn.badcaps-static.com/pdfs/...f08a1d1a76.pdf.

Any help and guidance would be super appreciated :-)

Check closely for oxidation on the motherboard.

If anyone would be so kind to point out some steps for finding the problematic part, that would be hugely appreciated.

Trace input voltage from DC jack. Where does it dissapear?
You need to have 3.3V and 5V on two coils when the laptop is turned off.

This will show up like some whitish stuff around component pins on the board. You need to clean them with cleaning solvent for electronics.
