Hey guys,
First post, long time user.
I have a Tosh L450d 13x with no video display on internal or ext monitor.
When powered up, the GPU doesn't even get warm, I don't think its drawing any current. CPU warms up, fan spins.
I have tried GPU reflow twice with no success.
I've been doing laptop/pc repairs, reflowing xboxes and ps3s for years but this is the first time I've attempted to reflow a Radeon GPU in a lead free laptop mobo.
Opinions on whether it's more likely to be a dead Radeon GPU than a candidate for a longer hotter reflow would be very much appreciated.
edit - I normally reflow with heatgun running at ~300c from a distance of 20cm for 1-2mins - maybe not enough for this board?
Also - The AMD Sempron CPU in this board also wouldn't fire up when I first got this machine to look at, it sat there like a dead fish, didn't even get warm, fan didn't even spin. After getting some fresh paste in there and reseating the heatsink the CPU warms up and the fan spins - is it possible that the GPU is doing the same thing? It has one of those crappy thermal pads on it.
Also- the build quality in laptops these last few years is diabolical, they used to build these things like tanks.
