    HP Compaq Nx9010 cooling problem

This laptop will boot up, but shut down when entering windows. There was basically no paste between the cpu and the heatsink. There is a pad with this same heatsink for the video chip. What is the best replacement for the cpu paste and pad for video chip?

you require some heatsink compound use a known make also you need to take the fan aprt and clean out the fluff from inside and blow out the fins on the heat sink, then when you have put it back together look on the bottom of laptop make sure the rubber feet are still there,I would also recomend a laptop stand you should be able to get one for about a $1.50.

Thanks for the info. I am familiar with dust removal and heatsink compound. Can the pad for the video card be reused? What is a good brand of and specifications for heatsink compound for laptops?
