    APPLE A1286 mb issue

    When insert magsafe connector, light on connector fades down; in the past, when battery was in place, same problem.
    Machine does nt power up.
    Short somewhere?

    I had this same problem just the other day. I removed the magsafe DC Jack, cleaned it with De-natured alcohol and re-installed it. And it worked. Maybe it was the cable connection to the MLB or the pins to the AC adapter, but I was surprised that it worked after that.

      Okay, so the problem came back, I thought that just cleaning the DC Jack was too simple. It turned out the the transistor marked 1127 BN4 553 was defective. I removed one from a parts board, no more problems.
