deadset laptop Dell inspiron 1440

Hi everyone,

I have a problem on my laptop it seems it was short circuited because once i connect the adapter to the laptop the light of the adapter goes off and once i disconnect it ,it goes on.I already tried another adapter unfortunately same issue was encountered.

I haven't yet open the laptop because of my busy schedule.
Anyone who have an idea on this problem.Appreciate your help.

Do you have a multimeter? If so, check resistance between (+) and ground of the power plug on the laptop. If you get short circuit (i.e. very low resistance, like less than 3 Ohms), open the laptop and look for burned components near the power plug. If you don't see any, post a picture of the area near the power plug so that we can point out things to check.
Please use the "Manage Attachments" forum function to attach your pictures instead of posting the pictures off site.

After you log in, navigate to this thread and click on the "Post Reply" button. Then if you look under the box for your post, you will notice another section right under it with additional options. That's where you'll find the "Manage Attachments" button.

I had a D600 that did sort of the same . I bought it on auction on ebay. Turns out it had these little peice if spring steel soldered to the bottom for grounding, one broke loose and was laying on a trace on the bottom... you may want to check on ebay for the same make that works and has a broken display,,, or a used mainboard.
